Ripoff Report Verified Safe

I turned to A Solid Gold Sound when I initial DJ for our wedding backed out at the last minute and every other DJ I called wanted us to pay so much that they would be far out of our budget. Thinking I had found that 'diamond in the rough' I hired them. During the course of our initial conversation they asked if I wanted the videography service; the service sounded nice and they informed me that they wouldn't charge for the service until 30 days after the event made the offer sound appealing. I declined the offer because at $600 it was still out of my price range and seemed rather frivolous for a couple on a shoestring budget.

Our wedding day was approaching and I grew more nervous as I had only heard from our DJ once. The monitor to our computer blew and I couldn't get on to read my email which after telling our DJ 'Mike' time and again that I didn't have access to it still seemed to only want to send email. Mike also proved to be nearly impossible to reach on the phone. The day of our wedding I was next to being a nervous wreck as I had no idea what Mike was going to do, say, or even if he was going to be there (he was still asking for directions the day of our wedding after I had given it to him on a number of occations).

It was time for our reception and Mike there playing music for the ones who had already arrived. Once we were inside and our announcements were made Mike basically clocked out and sat in the corner and smoked all night long. I never got to tell him the cues for anything as I was really never able to get a hold of him. Mike did no announcing . . I mean he really didn't. My best man had to sit back there and baby sit him to get him to announce what was going on, usually 2-3 minutes after we had already started. When we were doing our first dance he didn't announce what it was until the second verse of the song, pathetic.

Also, no one new we were ready to cut the cake until, again, my best man told everyone. Good Job Mike, way to be on top of the situation, but I would hate to drag you away from your pillar of smoke you were creating in the corner of the room. I know, you have to prioritize.

Finally it was over and we were off to enjoy our new lives together. Wait a minute, what is this $600 dollar charge that came out of my account? It's from A Solid Gold Sound!

I called A Solid Gold Suck to get my money back and that is when I started down the lexicon of excuses brought to me by John the owner . . here they are.

He can't talk, he's in a meeting
He can't talk, he's recieving cancer treatments
You haven't gotten your check yet? I have morons that work for me.
Sorry I haven't sent your check out yet, someone stole $75000 from me.

This has been going on for a month and I have yet to see a resolution.

Whatever you do, do not hire 'A Solid Gold Sound'

Update from our good friend John

I spoke to John yesterday, he made the mistake of actually answering the phone and he got stuck with some hard questions like 'are you going to send out my money?' but to no avail he had an excuse ready to go (paraphrasing) 'I'll be sending it out really soon.' I thought that was interesting because last week when I talked to him he informed me that I would be recieving my refund on Monday or Tuesday at the latest and here it was Friday and he still hadn't sent it out.

What I really found amusing was that he read the report I wrote about the company and he was good and fired up. This is where John started to threaten me with libel and threatening to sue me and everyone who posted on this site. Since I wasn't aware of anything libelous I had said I challenged his threat by simply asking him what I said that was not true; John refused to answer. So he continued again with the libel thing and I asked again this time by saying 'John, if you are going to threaten me with lawsuits saying that what I said was libelous why don't you tell me exactly what I said on that report that was untrue' his responce was 'I don't want to get into it' that is the second try and of course nothing again, I was really hoping he could tell me so I could tell him that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I SAID WAS UNTRUE AND I STAND BEHIND WHAT I SAID WHETHER IT MEANS HE TRIES TO SUE ME OR NOT. But just of a second let's take a look at the definition of libel

libel -- (a tort consisting of false and malicious publication printed for the purpose of defaming a living person)

Can someone please tell me what I say about John as a person? Sure I didn't paint his company in a positive light, but why should I? I have not had a positive experiance with them and I don't want others to go through what I am going through.

John ended his conversation about that by saying that I 'picked the wrong people to mess with' and that I 'should let sleeping dogs lie' once again we have the threat thrown at me and this is how I am responding to the threat.

John, if you are reading this and I know you will, I will NOT let sleeping dogs lie and I don't care who I 'messed with' you have done me wrong time and again and I won't stop until I post my experiance with your company on every single website and with every single consumer action group there is.
