Boise, Idahowww.selectyourgifts.com apparently markets itself to retail vendors as a marketing tool for those vendors. The retail vendor in turn tells you, the consumer that you have won a $500 gift certificate, or if you listen to a sales presentation we will give you a $500 dollar gift certificate or shopping spree.
If you go to www.selectyourgifts.com and enter sample for the id and sample for the password (these were found on a power point from the selectyourgifts.com site via a Yahoo search), you get to see the truth behind your $500 shopping spree.
For $5 per shipment, and a shipping fee for each item selected, you can receive the items you have 'won'. The shipping fees range from about $5 to over $35 depending on the real value of the item. One of the items we had actually purchased from a TV commercial, and the 'Market Value' listed on the site was definitely inflated. My wife purchased the item for under $10 plus a couple bucks for shipping. www.selectyourgifts.com wants us to believe that it really costs $29.
If you receive a call from a retailer of any kind telling you that you have won or can receive a $500 shopping spree or gift certificate, ask if it is for www.selectyourgifts.com. If it is, check out the site, and decide for yourself if your time is worth the sales pitch, or whatever the retailer is asking you to do for the 'prize'.
We had a local Rainbow Vac sales rep try to dupe us in to a sales presentation for one of these rip off gift certificates. Fortunately we did our research and didn't waste our time with the sales presentation.
