In March 2006, my wife decided to try the Hoodia Lean Life PM to lose some weight. She consulted with me before placing the order. I looked through the web site and read the fine print. It appeared to be legitimate.

The deal - order a bottle and pay only shipping and handling. The fine print reads that they will automatically ship another bottle after 30 days and charge your account, if you don't call and cancel the order.

The problem is that it took around a month to receive the free offer. The 2nd bottle arrived within a couple of days of the first and our account was charged for it. I contacted the company to inquire about this. They said the free bottle had been on back-order and shipped when available. It was just coincidence that it was available a few days before the 2nd was scheduled to ship. Yeah, right!

OK, I thought. I'll pay for the 2nd bottle and my wife will have 2 months to try it out. But, I did tell the company to cancel all future orders. If she liked it, I would order more later.

Well, the product didn't work as well as they claimed. So, I was just out about $80 - no harm, no foul. WRONG!

As I said, that was in March 2006. Here it is August 2006, and I see that the company just charged my account again for $70. I contacted the bank to dispute the charge. Now, I have to go in person to fill out dispute forms. I was informed that the only way to avoid this in the future is to close this account and open a different one. In addition, I have to contact the company to try to get reimbursed. GOOD LUCK! You call their phone # and you get a busy signal. Their web site can't be found! The bank is investigating to try to find them.

I'm out the additional money unless I can get the company to refund it. The bank says that they can't do anything because the company had valid information to charge my account, even though they had no authorization to charge after the first single transaction. It appears to be another method of identity theft that is not as well publicized!
