New Britain, ConnecticutI would like to lodge a formal complaint against the transportation company Infinity Moving whom I had contacted to transport my household goods from Tonawanda, NY to New Britain, CT.
Based on the list of items provided by me, an estimator from Infinity Moving gave me the price of $916.50. Based on this estimate, I signed the agreement and paid $200 in advance. As per the contract they were supposed to come for pick-up on any day between 3/9/2007 to 3/11/2007. However they failed to come during that time-frame and informed at the last moment that they will come on 12th March or 13 th March, 2007. Since I was supposed to hand over the key to next tenant on March 11th 2007, Infinity movers asked me to to go ahead and give the key to the new tenant in my apartment(Ms Manda Slovick)and they will pickup my household goods in Manda's presence.
They finally did arrive on the 12th March 2007 and during pickup they told me that they found one extra glass item and that they would charge extra to pack this. Upon further discussion with Chris (dispatch clerk of Infinity Movers) I agreed to pay $50 more. Although I had already relocated to Connecticut I was in constant touch(via phone) from Wallingford, Connecticut with the driver in Tonawanda, NY and Chris(dispatch clerk) in the Mover's NY office at the time of loading. After loading my household goods in the truck they asked Ms Manda Slovick to sign the paper on my behalf. At that time they did not inform me about the excess space they needed for loading the same household goods(330 Cu Ft) against their estimated (229 Cu ft) when they were signing the contract.
Now after causing me untold anxiety and stress due to their changing time-frame for the pickup, they are charging me an extra $519.50 and have informed me that they will not deliver my household goods unless I will pay the full amount. Please note that I have a small daughter at home and the lack of these household goods is causing her many hardships.
