elk grove, CaliforniaI signed an contract in hopes of making a good living by working hard and running my own business with the help of big franchise company that would give me the guidance. Instead I did not that they would take advantage of me and leave me in the middle with everything I had, including economically and emotionally.
I had high hopes of finding a good location to open up my repair shop but ATL never really helped me find one and pushed me into buying there old existing locations. Despite the fact that they had no traffic coming in, they still miss conducted me into signing the treaty with them. Looking at the situation I decided not to do so and asked them to refund my money because they were not helping me move on, instead trying to frame me. According to them they can never refund the money back so the only option i have is to stick with them.
Looling at this attitude I would like to sue them and join the fellows who have been done wrong, and taken advantage of. It is not easy coming up with large sump of money and loosing it right before your eyes.
I would like to file a law suit and I am looking for other fellows who have already hired an attorney to help me out and make me a part of their team so we can teach the big corporates. Anyone who is out in Maryland with an Attorney please contact me ASAP.

I've read multiple stories about how people invested their life savings in this franchise to no avail. This is also the case of my family who opened up their own shop in Visalia, CA 8 months ago. They are sinking FAST. They have no guidance or support from ATL International; they are merely giving away their money in royalties every week. What did people do? How did you leave? How do you break your contract with them? Can you simply stop using their name and continue on with the business on your own? Did anyone file a suit and win or at least settle? What is it exactly that one should to in this situation?

Sorry to hear this happen to you The same things occured to me when I approched ATL to open a shop. Same bait and switch. I thought I was reading what happen to me. It is like a mirror. Excuses like retail space is hard to find etc but here is a location on the skids you can turn it around! I almost bouht into it then stopped at the 11 hour.
They have $11,000 of my money also.
Please do not shoot the messenger but I had someone look into this I signed the contract and in the contract it states all monies recieved belong to ATL. I still have the contract and can list the page but I get tight when I see how much of a fool I was to sign this. You get caught up in the moment I exploted myself I accept this for what it was worth but if I could fight this I would but my legal advise came from a close friend who would not have charged for his services although I would have paid them. His response was the contract stated the terms I signed it it would go to mediation in Maryland and the Md court would rule that the terms of the contract were not reversable. He said I should I just take it as a bad learning experience.
I am not saying to give up but i think the deck is stacked against us.
I will say your report echoes of what happen to me .
When I refused to buy the location in VA Beach the President of ATL was actually yelling at me over the phone. The reason for not buying was simple my accountant advised me not to make the deal to risky. The president was screaming at me saying who knows more about this business me or your accountant.
sorry to say this but I think the both of us lost our money but would be intrested in any follow up or if others out there have been treated the same.
