Ripoff Report Verified Safe

Last week we ordered the Qwest bundled package from their kiosk in the Mall. I swiped my credit card and everything was 'good to go'; very happy to take your money. When the tech arrived for installation yesterday for Direct TV we got a 'magic phone number' on the screen instead of activation.

The number on the screen connected me to a collection agency for Direct TV. They tryed to prove that I got Direct Tv before. Only it was in a strange man's name that is not even mine! They said we were linked in public records!

This happens after Quest told me 'good to go.' 'you're all set.'

They wanted more $$$$ and thought they could extort me! just like that!

These 'direct TV' phone hookers were rude, came out yellling and screaming before I could even speak. they would not even listen to me. When I asked for supervisor or an accountable person none was provided. Just a bunch of rude lowlife bitches. Eventually after 50 minutes on hold they gave me a recording. When I called them back several times they cussed me out etc.....I asked for a full name of their president and a physical address. Which they refused to provide. Of course too cowardly to be 'stand up' for their company's lying bull shit, illegal methods.

The tech split with all the gear, and I told him I better not owe you anything!
I could tell he had done this many times before.

I called again later that evening. I informed them of the law in my state that says if you cannot produce a real bill. Name, account #, address etc.. then I don't owe the bill. They said too bad. Asked for original bill copy. Can only give a 'statement.'

I asked the date of the bill it goes back to 1999!

I googled my name and the persons name in public record while on the phone with them where they claimed we were 'linked'. There were several different links from several different cities and states because these are very common names and still they refused to admit this is bogas and their MISTAKE.

They then said it was a 'special public record only they had!' I informed them I was recording them and had two witnesses present on the speaker phone. They hung up quick.

Upon requesting my $200 'equipment deposit' they told me they would return it by mail in 5 days! Credited to my card. How come they can grab your cash instantly at a point of sale. But when they owe you a refund you have to wait and wait. Scum sucking leeeches.

Now, it is my responsibility to rip off their dish off my roof. and write to to their P.O. Box in Greenwood Colorado to 'clear my name.'

When doing further research I found that they are based in El Segundo, California. Owned 37% by Rupert Murdock. A New World Order buddy of Bush. What a surprize.

These companies smell, they flaunt the law, could give a rats ass about customer service. and I recommend you go to anybody else for an alternative. internet, phone or satellite dish!

Don't do business with these creeps you are only funding the New World Order.

Explanation.

What happened to you is an oddity to say the least, it is always possible for your name to be confused with others especially if there is fraud involved.

Now when Qwest sets up an account for a customer with DirecTv they only schedule the installation date and initial hardware and programming. They perform a simple external credit check to verify for any advanced fees and if the social security number used for the credit check comes back clean, as in no odd error messages pop up to Qwest's knowledge the installation is fine and will proceed as talked about.

If upon activation you had someone else's account show up and you were placed over to DirecTv collections. This sounds more like a fraud issue.

Qwest is restricted in what directv accounts they can sell, only new customers or opt in existing customers, this means if you have a final bill with DirecTv at the time of purchase qwest cannot place the order, secondly if have had directv service within the last two years, you are not considered a 'new' customer and are in-eligible for a Qwest ordered account.

With this in mind if you paid a 200.00 advanced fee for DirecTv that isn't money that goes to Qwest, it goes directly to DirecTv through DirecTv's ordering systems. Also like any credit card purchase it takes 24 hours typically to be removed from your account, and can take 3-5 buisness days to be refunded. The system isn't perfect.

I would more closely suspect identity theft in this particular situation not extortion. Have you contacted DirecTv to have them investigate the Fraud? If not it would be advisable so that it doesn't negatively affect your credit down the line if someone is opening accounts using your information.
