DeMotte, IndianaI am a 45 year old christian who made the mistake of asking for prayer from peter popoff after watching a late night 'miracle Service'. after about 3 weeks I got what appeared to be a handwritten letter from Popoff telling me that if I gave unselfishly to his ministry that my medical poblem would be healed miraculously also that my donation would be blessed back to me with so much that I couldn't hold it all. the letter told me that I should GENEROUSLY and Sacrificially Give to People United for Christ and that my finances would be fixed in a short time. I BELIEE THAT NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD and Trusting that PETER POPOFF WAS ANSWERING PRAYER I gave my entire disability check for 2 months as a sacrificial gift. and within days got the same letter in the mail
I called Popoff's Ministry and asked for my money back and was told that GOD WOULD CURSE THOSE AGAINST POPOFF. And was told that there would be no refund. I asked about POPOFF'S promise of financial return and was told that I should take it up with GOD in prayer. I asked to talk to POPOFF and was told that he was much too busy to take phone calls from followers. What can I do to recover the 1284.00 in disability income that he fraudulently took from me? To add insult to injury I was talking to a friend who showed me the letter she got from POPOFF it was te same letter he sent me whic claimed that he was praying for me personally.

Televangelist=Greedy. Except maybe for Billy Graham who seems to be a genuine person. At least what I've seen and heard of him. There are probably one or two others.

Probably not a lot...you could try the usual routes...the BBB or maybe the attorney general...Perhaps a local TV station would consider doing a segment on this considering that you are disabled. The threat of this might encourage them to refund your money.
It's the year 2007 and I would hope that it would be common knowledge that televangelists are mostly scam artists who are after your money. Popoff isn't holding the right hand of God...acting as God's treasury secretary to tell God to answer prayers according to how much money was given.

You will never see your money, you sent it to them and they are not about to send it back... But you will get many more letters wanting more.. Welcome to the biggest scam in history

Desperation is what he uses against people, I know, I too was so Desperate for any relief from the pain I suffer every day I called and got his wonderful Hand Written letter which by the way is actually a font that any computer will print out. I was asked to send all kinds of money too and as soon as I saw this no matter how desperate I am, I knew GOD does not want my money to answer my prayers.
I ignored any other letters that came which was in the 17- 18 count last time I looked. His scam has been around for years and when he was busted back in the 80 he vanished for a time. What completely amazes me is that this SOB is aloud to continue to rip people off.
Why law forces can't stop this type of stuff from going on blows my mind. I have ordered on line many times and it seems every time I ordered from with in the usa I have to cancle my credit card because of some scam or attempts the company I ordered from trying to add on other expenses with out my permission.
I guess welcome to the land of the schemers and manipulators should be the good Ole usa's new slogan cause thats all I see coming from the states is RIP off artists and sub standard products.
God loves the usa? more like the criminal artists love the usa!
I see no GOD just Scams and garbage pouring out from the good Ole usa.
Americans think 'their the best, they're The strongest and they're on top of the world' Wow you should be on the out side looking in it sure looks differant to any one who doesn't have to live there lol.

I do realize there have been many scams by televangelists, such as Robert Tilton who asked those watching to lay their hands on the screen and make a vow. Well, in 1987, I did just that, not realizing he was a false prophet. God blessed me yet, because of my faith at the time. I was at the end of the end and believed GOD to move in my life, not Robert Tilton. From then on, I truly had miracle after miracle, even come to my door, at a time of great need. Remember Christians, there is no power or anything in the recipient that determines God's blessings to you. It is your faith and belief in Jesus Christ, Himself, that determines your blessings, coming and going.
Of course though, when I found out Tilton was a fraud, I stopped giving to his ministry.
If you want to get back the money you lost, file a complaint with your state's Attorney General's office.
Don't beat yourself up because you gave to a ministry that is MAYBE, I have to say, fraudulent. Hearsay is cheap, and people love dirt, gossip, and hearsay. God will still bless you if you gave from a cheerful heart, that is, if you believe He will.
When I was a pastor's wife, I went to a Benny Hinn convention, against my will. I had friends around me who were so disappointed that Benny Hinn did not reach them and lay hands on them. There is no man on earth that is a healer, only God can heal. This is what I told them, 'Call out unto God, not Benny, and He will give you the desires of your heart. God hears the cries of our heart. Cry out to God, not man.'
I am also disabled and have seen the hand of God's provision in my life. Remember, Benny Hinn is not the healer, Peter Popoff is not the healer, and David Epsey is not the healer, but my Jesus.....He is the healer, and did so at the cross when He made a way of escape from this dark world of no hope, but unto salvation and eternal life to all those who believe in Him and do His will.
If you gave with a right heart unto God, and not unto man, He will bless you and give you wisdom in your future decisions. Do not condemn yourself for making a foolish decision and do not, by all means, condemn Peter Popoff, and lose your own personal blessings from God, who is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. The Bible says to 'bless those who despitefully use you...' Do so, and see God move in your life.

Why is it?
Why is it that when someone's doctrine fails they always accuse the listener of not having faith, not having enough faith or not having a pure motive?
It is high time that Pastors, televangelists and others claiming to be Christian walk the talk.
Christianity in America is a joke of a religion. I know, after 36 years of being a Christian, I will no longer call myself one, that is how bad it is.
This Popoff character and others like him need to be excommunicated and denied the right to call themselves Christians.
