Hello,

I am a widowed senior citizen over the age of 80 years. I have a home that I have lived in for 35 years with my husband until six years ago when he died. Since then, it has been difficult to cope with the loss of my husband, friend and partner. I have taken good care of my home and spend time cleaning and maintaining it to keep me busy so I don't get all upset with the loss of my spouse. I live peacefully in a cul-de-sac with only four other neighbors who look at for me from time to time. I am in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's and am doing the best to cope with this delibitating disease. I am strong and healthy, but my mind is failing me. I really don't know what to do other than to simply wait my time until I no longer can fend for myself. I am fortunate to have come from a large family of brothers and sisters who will take care of me when the time comes.

My life took a sudden turn in November 21, 2006 when a contractor by the name of David Griffin and accomplice, Shirley Alexander knocked on my door soliciting contracting work was needed on my home. I trusted them on what they said my home needed and signed three contracts totaling $90,930. I paid them in cash upfront to begin the work. Although some of the work done to my home was performed, I later discovered it was not needed. The cost estimate was excessive, but Mr. Griffin which I don't know if that is his real name was charming and pursuasive assured me the work will be done according to the highest standards in the industry and was guaranteed by his company. Mr. Griffin gained my trust and my money as later I found out was one of the largest mistakes I have ever made in my life. My deceased husband who left me well taken care of would have risen from his grave had he known what this shyster contractor had done to me.

Mr. Griffin and Shirley Alexander asked me if I could loan them some money for a very short period of time that their business needed. This was in April of 2007. They assured me I would be paid back. Once again, with the trust I had in him, I went ahead and lent him $126,300. The following month, Mr. Griffin paid me back with two worthless checks from a closed bank account for a portion of the loan due. In addition, I paid him $14,000 cash to replace the entire fence on my property in January of 2007. The fence has not been installed nor has my money been refunded.

Needless to say I now fear for my life for Mr. Griffin has asked me about my investment accounts I have had for quite some time. I finally told my brothers and sisters about the situation and they were just livid that I had been so naive about everything. They confronted Mr. Griffin about what he did to me and he remained cool as a cucumber. My family since then has moved me out of my house and I am now forced to sell my home that I have enjoyed for so many years. I will never recoup my savings and I pray this shyster and his accomplice are taken to justice and incarcerated for life. I have since then discovered he has done the same to other senior citizens in my neighborhood.

I warn anyone who does business with these shysters to contact the police and report them immediately for they must be stopped before they hurt others. I just don't understand why someone would take advantage of me like this and take my live savings away that I need to pay for future healthcare. I am so ashamed and embarrassed of what happen and hope something can be done to stop these people from continuing their fradulent practices.
