My husband is a senior citizen (67 years old) and he took my car into Just Brakes to have the brakes checked, after the brake light came on while dropping off our grand daughter at school.

It was early in the morning, and he just wanted to have it checked out! The store manager (Darin) told him he had a bad master cylinder. My husband called me on his cell phone to let me know what was going on. He also told me he was getting a bit light headed, because he hadn't taken his medication yet, or had any breakfast! He told me he was going to walk across the street to McDonald's to get something light to eat. He figured he'd get a fruit bowl or something like that.

When he returned, the store manager told him that there was a LOT wrong with my brakes! My husband bought an Egg Mcmuffin sandwich, but was concerned about eating it, and had second thoughts about it. He figured he would see how much longer it was going to take because he had to test his blood sugar, as well as he had to take his medication! He told them to repair the brakes, and he sat down and called me again. I asked him how much they were charging him, and he couldn't answer me. I could tell he was getting confused. I told him I would come down and bring him his medication, and some Total cereal along with some fruit. He can't just eat anything!

I called the Just Brakes and spoke to the store manager, Darin. I asked him how much longer it was going to be because my husband was a Diabetic, and he needed his medication! He told me that it needed a whole LOT of work done! I questioned his explanation, because he said the brakes were completely shot! I I was familiar with auto repairs, & my brakes were working FINE! The light had only come on ONE time! How could it possibly need THAT much work done? I told him I was coming down and that I wanted ALL my old parts returned!

By the time I got my daughter here and we were getting ready to leave, about 10 to 15 minutes, my husband called to tell me they were done and he was on his way home!

When he got home, I made sure he ate his usual breakfast, and took his medication. Then I looked at the receipt....I was HORRIFIED! I called the store manager back and questioned him about it! He was NOT very professional with me & didn't like my questioning him! After I hung up with him, my husband asked me if I told Darin, the manager of Just Brakes, that I thought my husband was INCOMPETENT! I was SHOCKED & QUITE UPSET! ALL I had told him was that he was a Diabetic! The two words do NOT even sound alike! This was like the icing on the cake!

I called the District manager and left a message, then I called the home office in Dallas Texas, and left a message for them complaining about the overcharging as well as the UNPROFESSIONAL way we were treated!

My husband called Darin back, He asked him if I told him he was incompetent? Darin said I had said it! I then took the phone and asked him WHY he was saying that! He then DENIED telling my husband he said it at all! ALL IN THE SAME CALL! HE OUTRIGHT LIED!!! I had him on speaker phone too, so my husband heard him also!

I spoke to John Jackson, the district manager, about an hour later. I told him I planned on disputing the charges with my Master Card. He told me that he would just have the mechanics put my car back together and have my husband take it on home! I thought it was kind of weird that he was talking that way, considering the fact that my husband had already been home OVER an hour ago! He was SHOCKED, and told me he would call me RIGHT BACK within ONE minute! Darin apparently had acted like my car was still there! I guess he did THAT because he knew there was NO way he could have possibly have done ALL the repairs he claimed to have done in such a short time! Regardless, he said that Darin was one of his 'best' store managers! I told him about the way he had LIED to us about the name calling, and he just blew it all off!

Later that day Bob Marshall from the Dallas Texas main office called me. I told him what happened. I was very polite, and explained the whole situation to him. I told him I felt as though they first RIP OFF A SENIOR, THEN SLAP HIM IN THE FACE TOO! He took my complaint, and NEVER did anything about it!

I tried to stop the payment with my bank, and even went down and filed a complaint, But later they called me & I was told that I couldn't do anything about it because they did have my husbands signature on an estimate! The paper is all messy and scratched off, and crossed out! My husband's signature SHOWS that he was confused, and in a few places THEY even signed my husbands name! It is the most UNPROFESSIONAL, SLOPPIEST papers I have ever seen!

BEWARE BEFORE GOING TO ONE OF THESE PLACES!!! THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND LIARS TOO!!!

Confusing Story

1. If your husband needed medication why did he leave home without taking it?

2. If your husband wanted the brakes checked and they seemed to be operating fine why didn't he get an estimate and drive home?

3. Why didn't you stop at a dealer that sells your make of car instead of a place called 'Just Brakes'? Why didn't you compare your estimate with other dealers/mechanics?

Thank You
