Hughes net promises broadband speeds well.... we have had their service for several years now it has degraded terribly even though we have upgraded to the highest home plan they have upon my own digging and checking their own diagnostic pages it seems that 20 hours of every day we are subgect to a flow control if we use our internet in the wee hours of the morning then and only then do we get what we have been paying for. We call on a daily basis to complain about the high latency issues our speed tests 1/2 the time are marginal so they tell us that the system is performing the way it should and they see no problem we have been esclated to teir 4 support 7 times now with same results no return call as promised on 4 and only a message saying nothing is wrong the other 3. With their new system you can go to a hourly diagnostic and check it yourself and see that the flow control is on or off we seem to be paying a premium price for dial up service We never exceed our minium download and do not get fapped but when the flow control is on the service is just like we are under the fap policy.Their are many complaints just like ours on the Ripoff complaint site If we had any other alternative we would definatly be using it Their service is no different than having a new toaster that only one side will work unless you jiggle the cord and your told by the store sorry but that is the way it is supposed to work and we cant replace it or fix it.

Back in Oct 2007 we were at the corporate level of tech support if we called the regular # we were told they could not help us They did fianally agree to send some out and check our system and put us on a different satellite We actually had 2 techs as one was in training the senior person was very persistant in trying to fix our system they changed out our modem and radio arm on the dish they were having trouble getting the modem to commision these poor guys were at our home for 7 hours 4 of which were in the dark on the roof but they would not give up so we have to give them credit for getting it working finally It worked great for 3 days and all of a sudden we get this decommision status on or system page and the service was once again in the toilet Finally we decide we will upgrade as that is the only recomandation Huges tech can give us so we do. We now pay $89 for dial up speeds 20 hours of the day. The only time we get the service we pay for is after midnight till 4-5 am.

We never exceed our daily mg so we are never FAP'ed yet we are constantly slowed down as if we were due to their flow control this can only be because 1 they have over sold and refuse to be considerate of old customers and 2 they decide to punish us all for the few that seem to run close to their download threshold. Makes you wonder with the new satellite they have now if the old customes will remain stuck with the old stale leftovers
Last tech that came out replaced the 4 month old radio arm and even though we were having same issues said that was all he could do {his wife had called a few times already wanting to know when we was going to be home }
So if you have any options at all even if it means a 2nd phone line you will be money ahead and your blood pressure under control to not get wrapped up with Hughes and their lies and con artist techs, that is if you can actually understand their english
