Ripoff Report Verified Safe

Approched by person representing APX Alarm Systems and Honeywell working in conjuction with my local police department (Lie, police department called me) to see if he could install a security alarm system in my home free of charge if I would allow his Apx sign in my yard and use all this for advertising in the neighborhood. Before I couild breathe good and I don't think the ink was dry on the OK to install, two different cars from out of state (Utah, and California tags) came driving up and slapped a few pieces of honeywell pieces on my walls with just screws, and someone on the phone (asking me if I was happy with the system, did the guys have their APX shirts on, and did they clean up any mess they made--they weren't even thru). I did agree to use
their 60 month monitor, but I agreed not knowing that all I got for a security system was 2 door sensors, I motion detector in living room(that doesn't work), and top this all off to a total system working on batteries!!

I have three more rooms that don't have anything in them. The lighted sign in yard doesn't work. I am on disability check, so I don't think I can drag a chair and stand up on it to change batteries. I called a local security rep here in town and he came out and could not believe it. Apx stated this (free security system was worth over $1200, for these 5 pieces of toys). My local guy said he could wire the entire house, windows and all for less than half that.
He also told me if the batteries became weak, it would set the alarm off!!

Yes, I called the company about all this, but the two people I talked to seemed only interested in letting me know about the contract, not what they could do, so I told them to come on and get the system. Hadn't heard from any of them yet, and am waiting on a bill, then the action will start. I think this one will have to go to the judges. This scam has got around my town pretty good, every one including the newspaper is talking. I will follow up when I hear more from this immoral group.

APX ALARMS PROVO UTAH

Today, August 10th, 2008 send APX an E-mail telling them I was refusing to pay for their system after receiving a bill for $326.98.
Received an E-mail back informing me that they were not interested in anything but for me to pay for the 5 year contract. Again, no regard for customer satisfaction, just the money you owe. They refused to hear anything in regard to their side of this 'contract', but that I alone was in the wrong. They only stated how precise their scheme was, and that there was no way their people acted in the manner I have decribed. I would feel bad, but unfortunately I am not the only one that has had this happen. Probably won't be the last. People, beware!!
