Curtice, OhioMY FATHER IS 80YS OLD AND HAS ALZHEIMER/DEMENTIA AND RECEIVED A CALL FROM A CAR SALESMAN, REESE DAILEY FROM MATHEWS FORD TO COME IN FOR 'SOME GREAT DEALS'. WHEN MY FATHER LEFT 2 HOURS LATER HE ENDED UP WITH A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE CAR, FOR $30,978.75 WITH 24000 MILES ON IT INCLUDING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY!!
AS SOON AS THE FAMILY FOUND OUT ABOUT THE PURCHASE WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND NOTIFIED THEM OF MY DAD'S MEDICAL STATUS AN HOUR AFTER MY DAD SIGNED THE PAPERS. THEY DIDN'T CARE.
WE CALLED THE SALESMAN, MANAGER AND LEFT MESSAGES FOR THE OWNER, TIM MATHEWS AND NO CALLS WERE RETURNED. WE SHOWED UP AT THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD 'NOTHING CAN BE DONE'. MY FATHER ALSO SHOWED UP AT THE DEALERSHIP TO RETURN THE VEHICLE AND I DEMONSTRATED HIS CONFUSION TO THE MANAGER, DAN STEINHAUSER, BY ASKING MY DAD WHAT HE THOUGHT HE PAID FOR THE SUV AND IF HE KNEW HE BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND MY FATHER WAS DUMB-FOUNDED. MR STEINHAUSER'S RESPONSE WAS 'I DON'T CARE ABOUT ANY OF THAT' !
MY FATHER IS NOW STUCK WITH A VEHICLE HE WILL RARELY DRIVE FOR $413 A MONTH. MATHEWS FORD COMPASSION AND SYMPATHY WAS NOT TO BE FOUND AND NOW I KNOW WHY PEOPLE DON'T TRUST CAR DEALERS.
