I am a believer in switching from incandescent to flourescent. Also, I like to shop Lowes because of my continuing good experiences. However, the Bright Effects brand of flourescent bulbs is an inferior product. It appears as if this brand is Lowes' house brand of this type of product.
The two lamps I purchased both burned out within 60 days, with one end of the tube blackened. I would caution against buying this brand and would hope that Lowes has discountinued selling them.
By the way, I had one Sylvania lamp that did the same thing. After e-mailing Sylvania's customer service department, the company sent two replacement lamps and a letter of apology. The other Sylvania lamps I have continue to work well and I think this was just one rendomly defective lamp.
