In May of 2006 I recieved a brochure about a new promotion going on at 1400 Motors. Because the lease on my old car was going to run out in a few months they were going to buy the remainder of the lease and wave the disposition fee if I purchased a new vehicle. I picked out a car, went through the whole sales pitch and started to go through the paper work.

One issue was that my old car was about 20,000 miles over the limit of the lease which the salesman and I worked out to be roughly 3,000$. I told him that I could not afford to pay that at that time, but would have no problems making monthly payments until it was paid off. He said that was not a problem and that Chrysler did that all the time, and all I needed to do was when I recieved my final bill call Chrysler and set up the payments. I went through this with him several times and told him that if it would affect my credit I was not going to sign. Both he and a member of the finance team assured me several times that this would never be an issue.

Upon recieving my bill I called Chrysler Financial and they said they didn't do anythihng like that, and they never had. When calling the dealership back they said they would call Chrysler and take care of it. After several phone calls back and forth Chrysler said that they would not accept payments and they were going to send it to collections.

My sales rep at 1400 Motors stopped returning my phone calls at this point. I then went into the dealership and spoke with a manager who said that he would help. He got me an extra 30 day extention, but beyond that was no help either. I then wrote a letter to the president of 1400 Motors who basically told me that I was at fault and his sales team had done all they could to help.

I finally got someone on the phone from Chrysler Financial that was willing to help in the interest of customer service, but 1400 Motors left me high and dry. In the end I got the payment cut by more than half, but I still had to shell over 1000$ out of my pocket right away, which was something that I was not in the position to do, and made that very clear when purchasing the vehicle.
