Just for the record, I have read comments on here about, "If you keep an accurate register you will never incur excessive OD Fees, and I'm here to say that is not true.  Let me give an example of my experience.

My balance in my checkbook is $245.00, I have to pay rent of $350.  I know that if I pay my rent I will be overdrawn, but I have to pay rent, so here's what I do. I go to the ATM, check my balance first before withdrawing funds, which matches my register of $245, it stated this was the available agreed as it matched my checkbook.  So I withdraw $350 expecting that one overdraft fee, which is fine.  Here's the math: 245-350=-105-25 OD fee = -$130.  Not too bad, just one OD fee.  Then I get my statement a couple weeks later, and mind you I DID NOT use my card until I put that 130 back in my account, but my statement showed a negative balance of 248 or so.  Here's how this happened, supposedly by 'accident' BS! When I checked the ATM, the available balance was 245, but what happened is supposedly the available balance did not mean all the transactions in my register went thru, even though it matched what was in my checkbook! I'm soory, I thought avail bal meant what u have to draw against, and if it doesnt, then how can they say that its my avail bal if there is actually more money in my account.  So what happened? After I withdrew the $350, the bank reordered my transactions so that the ATM went first, then all the little charges came next (hi to low) and boom, I got 3 or more NSF fees because of this.  So, my checkbook was in order, my balance matched what the ATM showed, yet I still got excess NSF fees due to reordering of charges, even though my account was negative.

And for those that back the banks, do u really think that if this practice was ethical that every low income american would have to be on the defensive from banks and their NSF fees? C'mon, give me a break you ignorant sheople.

BTW, the reason this happens is this:  Our banking system is structured, regulated, overseen by, whatever; by the Federal Reserve.  Now with the name like the Federal Reserve you would think its a government agency, but it is not.  IT IS A PRIVATELY OWNED BANK! BY WHO? BY THE ELITES, AND BY FOREIGNERS!!! SO WHAT WE HAVE IS A WAY FOR THE RICH, BOTH DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN, TO STRUCTURE THE AMERICAN BANKING SYSTEM TO MAKE THEM WEALTHIER.  WHAT A GREAT, AND SILENT WAY TO BRING DOWN AMERICA! IF YOU ARE UNAWARE OF ANY OF THIS, PLEASE RESEARCH THE FEDERAL RESERVE AND YOU WILL SEE WHY OUR ECONOMY IS IN A DOWNFALL, AND THUS OUR COUNTRY AN D OUR 'GOVERNMENT'. WE ARE BEING TAKIN OVER FROM WITHIN, AND THE GOVERNMENT IS LETTING THIS HAPPEN SO THEY CAN STAY IN POWER AND WEALTHY! RESEARCH THE FOLLOWING:

NEW WORLD ORDER

ILLUMINATI

FEDERAL RESERVE

BILDEBERGS

THE UNITED NATIONS

WE ARE BEING SOLD A LIE AND DONT EVEN KNOW IT..PLEASE WAKE UP!! THIS IS REAL, THE PROOF IS OVERWHELMING!

You Didn't Have An Accurate Register

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

POSTED: Friday, August 02, 2013

 Here is what you said!!

1.  My balance in my checkbook is $245.00

2.  I go to the ATM, check my balance first before withdrawing funds, which matches my register of $245

3.  what happened is supposedly the available balance did not mean all the transactions in my register went thru, even though it matched what was in my checkbook!

LOL!!  There is no possible way your check register would ever match your ATM Balance if you had outstanding transactions that did not post.  What it tells me is that you either didn't write down the outstanding transactions into your register before the transactions cleared, or you simply don't know how to maintain a check register.  All this post tells me is that you have absolutely ZERO idea how to properly keep a checking account.  I guess it's easier to blame conspiratorial agents than to simply take responsibility of your own money.  I've never seen someone document their own guilt in their own actions - and then deny they did anything wrong.  Please learn how to keep a check register - once you learn how....you will never incur excessive OD Fees.

Best of luck to you....

BS

There is only one person to blame for your situation..and that person is YOU.

The "Keep a Written Register" is usually followed by a statement to the effect of "...AND do not spend more than you have available in your account".  Which YOU did NOT do.  You INTENTIONALLY Overdrew your account when you knew you did not have enough money available.

Had you withdrawn $240 from the ATM it doesn't matter how or when they posted the other transactions..you would NOT have gotten any OD Fees.

Your checking/savings account is NOT a line of credit.  In some situations actually trying take more money than you have would be considered theft.  After all what would happen if gave a cashier a $20 bill for a $50 item at a store and walked out the door.  The answer is simple..you probably would have been tackled by store security before you got to your car and then get turned over to the local police for shoplifiting.  The only difference here is that the bank allows you to withdraw more money..but they do so under the terms of the account you agreed to.

By the way..they don't target "low income" people.  The only people who get hit by NSF fees are people who overdraw their account.  It doesn't matter if they make $50/week or $50/hour.  In fact many "low income" people have some of the best account management because they know that they can not afford these fees.

Of course one has to wonder with your "example" how much is truth and how much is just an excuse to write the last part of your "RipOff".

You overdrew your account period.  Did you not even check to see if you the purchases you made earlier were even cleared?? ATMs are not 100% percent.  Regardless if your maintained a register you fail to realize that you need to balance your statements and NO I do not work for any bank.  This is your problem not the banks
