My car ( BMW, worth $25,000) was stolen from this 24 Hour Fitness Parking Lot. The thief who is basically a 24 hour fitness member, cut the lock in the Men's locker room, stole my gym bag, got the car keys from the bag and drove away the beamer on the labor day. I called the police and reported the incident. The 24 facilities manager was not event least bothered. She even didn't want to answer my questions, let alone sympathize with me. 3 weeks later, The BART police found my car abandoned in Coliseum BART station. It cost me over $2000 to repair the damages. The police found that the thief who stole my car had previous felony and criminal records. I raised a concern about 24 hour's business policy in enrolling criminals in its facility for revenue in expense of everyone's safety to the BBB. 24 Hours fitness cut me a check of $149.70. BBB closed my case. I have paid $800 in July 2006 to be a life-time member of the gym. What I got in return is not fair, on top of all of my losses due to the theft inside the facility.

24Hour Fitness cannot be held liable for theft or loss of items within their health clubs. This same policy of liability is found on signs located on parking lots for banks, shopping centers and supermarkets. Why should the tenants of the shopping centers be responsible if low-life criminals were to break into or steal your car. You were fortunate that 24Hour Fitness even cut you a check for $149.70. Along the same lines of liability, BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit, our San Francisco Bay Area mass transit train system) is not responsible for theft and damage to automobiles parked on their parking lots. Why should they be responsible.

Imagine if you were the owner of a grocery store with a parking parking lot and people claimed their cars were vandalized or stolen, would you be willing to pay for their damages and insurance claims?

Don't Blame Them

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

Blame our f**ked up US legal system. If there was some way to track convicted felons, they'd sue because their legal rights were being violated because 24 hour fitness was keeping them out. If the manager of 24 hour fitness were to say ANYTHING about anybody, they'd sue. THAT'S THE WAY IT IS. Why would it cost you $2,000 to repair your "beamer" IF you had insurance? Did you have a $2,000 deductable? If you can afford soo much on a vehicle, spend more then $5 on a cheapo lock. I think lo-jacks run around $700. I've found that the cheaper a gym is, the more riff-raff it attracts.
