I like to report a situation that happen to in relation with my membership.In June of 2012,  I went to the front desk of 24 hrs Fitness in Montgomery stin San Francisco. I told the agent my wish to cancel my membership, he suggestedto out it on hold by paying certain amount, I did so.I got a surprise when i notice in my bank statement that I was charged in july and august, so I went back to the Montgomery gym to report the situation, this time the same agent told me that once again the manager would call me  (he/she never did).

I  didn't get a call , so I went back to the gym to look for an answer. This same guy told me to wait and he would talk to the manager, after a few minutes he came back and said:"we cannot give the money back but you will have a free month and and another month free and another month credited." I told  him "I didn't want the free month just my money back" At the the end he told the gym does not give money in return, so i had to take the deal.

In december of 2012, I went back to the gym to start my visit, a girl told me you account has been cancelled. Once again, I was surprised  and I told the girl : "Wow, they took my word to cancelmy account, So I told the girl what would be the end of my credit month and my free month, she told me I don't any information on that matter; let me get your name and phone number and the manager will call you" never did; managers must be busy for a follow up call.

A few weeks ago, I got a call from a 24hrs call center, letting me know I owe money to the gym.I told the girl, sorry but there's a misunderstanding, the gym owes me 2 months.I explained all this. I told her I will stop at the gym which I did. Once again manager was to busy to talk to me. I am very patient and educated, I don't disrespect anybody or raise my voice.
Manager at montgomery never meet me and front desk girl sent me home with the promise of a call.On monday, I got a call: the Lady call me introduce herself as manager, didn't her name I requested but She said She didn't want to give me her name because it was not the reason for the call.She was rude,  no customer service and harassed me for the money according to their records I owe.I explained I am very sick. I answered just to give a follow up.

On monday March 11, She told me a few things: If you pay your bills  you don't get calls like this, if you buy car you don't beg the dealership to skip payments, you are a grown up man so pay your bills, you have to be responsible for your actsand you singed a contract , you accept our rules and you abide them. Pay your gym bill, so you can get in shape andhealthy not sick. if you were at the gym you were not sick. I told her I would het to meet with me, She said: I don'ttime for you and your stories. This gym keeps busy, I don;t have time for you. She hang up on me.

I am so sick but I went to the gym that same night just to talk to a representative about my case.Brian of 24hrs Sun Valley Mall told me I can't do nothing for you. Another person at the gym told this lady has a badattitude. Finally Today, March 13 I got in touch with the call center, I explained myself. She offered a to waived 1 monthand I have to pay the other 2.
In summary: I wanted to  cancel my membership, agent offered a suspension by paying a certain amount.I didn't cancel my membership, the months, I didn't  freeze the account in the time I needed. My account got frozen for monthsI didn't request.  I was inform in dec, 2012 My Membership was cancelled so that is why I never extended anymore. In March 2013,I was updated with the news, I owe money for months I haven't work out or according to my knowledge I don't have a current membership with the gym.

I felt harassed by the manager who called me on monday nor helped or cared. She was rude and abusive. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER.If this is the philosophy of the gym I don't wish to be part of it. I am a responsible young adult, If it was m mistake I would pay that money in full.I would pay to the very last penny. I wouldn't  waste your time neither mine.
I am so disappointed with her attitude that I will post this letter in every resource possible peoople have to know so we learn from our mistakes and makea better culture.  I am not a machine. I am should be treated with respect and care.

Horrid customer service


So sorry to read of your unfortunate experience. I imagine that many other people (myself included) have also experienced this awful treatment when dealing with 24 hour fitness. 24 Hour Fitness are the epitome of dysfunctional corporate mentality and lack any kind of humanity.
