Contacted Karen at 2 Da Rescue about a dog they had available for adoption and asked what the breed was of the dog.  Told her we were interested in adopting with the only condition that it was not a Pit Bull breed or mix as we have very small children.  She told us over email that it was not, She told us it was a boxer / rhodesian ridgeback mix.  When we met the rescue group at a Petco adoption day and asked about the puppy, one of the volunteers informed us that it was a pit bull mix and when we finally saw the dog it looked 100% pit bull.  Apparently Karen was there and overheard the volunteer tell us that and she immediatly jumped all over him trying to quiet him and told him not to disclose the breed.

Beware when working with this group that they will Lie directly to you.

2DaRescue regrets any misunderstanding that may have occurred.

It is not the policy of 2DaRescue to misrepresent any breed of our available dogs for adoption.  We do not believe misrepresenting a dogs breed would be beneficial to our dogs or to our potential adopters.  We do understand that individuals may have preconceived ideas about certain dog breeds.  In these situations we may chose to try and educate a potential adopter but in no way force an opinion on anyone.  We respect the unique perspective that each potential adopter brings to our rescued pups and are thankful that you consider our rescues as potential additions to your families.  As an All Breed Rescue, we have options for everyone.  We again regret any miscommunication that may have been perceived and hope you will reconsider your support of 2DaRescue.

Sincerely,

2DaRescue

2DaRescue apologizes for any misunderstanding

AUTHOR: 2DaRescue - ()

POSTED: Sunday, October 05, 2014

Our organization was established in response to the growing number of beautiful pets being euthanized and suffering daily in our county pounds.   With that said, we take grievances very seriously as our goal is to maintain relationships with our adopters and the animals we cared for in their time of need and transitions to their new families.

Regrettably, parasites are a problem when rescuing abandoned dogs from pounds, off the streets, or from people who are not properly caring for or abusing their animals.  Like a child with a cold in a school, it only takes one individual to affect the entire population.  Isolation of our affected pups is our goal.  This is why we are constantly spraying our perimeter for fleas, treating any affected animals for ticks, and bathing all of our pups not being treated at least once a week.

2 Da Rescue regrets any misunderstanding that may have occurred regarding veterinary visits.  2 Da Rescue does not discourage visiting your vet but to the contrary, highly encourages you to establish an immediate relationship with your vet.  Kennel cough, like parasites, can spread very quickly in a population.  Our intent was to offer you an additional service by providing you treatment should an upper respiratory issue arise as we understand the financial impact of additional veterinary visits.

Lastly, we do recognize that when you are constantly interacting with and caring for a group of animals, mistakes can happen with recalling the correct name or age of that animal.  Thankfully we always have our dogs’ bios with us to keep us on track.  These ages are determined by a licensed vet at the time of spay/neuter.

In closing, all of our adoption proceeds go directly to caring, feeding, housing, and the medical needs of our pups.  We are a non-profit organization and rely on the support of our volunteers and our adopters.  We take all concerns very seriously and hope you will reconsider your support of our non-profit organization.2 Da Rescue is very grateful to all of our many adopters and those individuals who visit us at our adoption events.  Without your interest, compassion, and care, we could not fulfill our mission to rescue and find loving homes for as many homeless pets as is within our capability.

Sincerely,

2 Da Rescue

False Information

My husband and I went to Petco looking for a puppy that we could adopt. We had been to a few different locations towards the end of august 2014 when decided our last stop would be Petco off Ray and 56th in Phoenix.

We played with a few different dogs that 2 Da Rescue had there. I found several ticks on two differnt dogs and whne i brought it up, one of the people there pulled one off and said it was fuzz. (i know what a tick on a dog looks like)  Our experience that the person who seemed "in charge" was Karen and she didnt seem to know much about the dogs they had. That didnt stop us, we fell in love with a puppy and adopted him. Karen had indicated that he was only 7 months, when in fact the paperwork she provided stated that he was almost 2 years old. we were also told that if he were to develope a cough, to call her and not a vet. this was a bit of a red flag.

After we got him home that saturday, he was great!! I took him to a vet that following monday for a check up. i wanted to be sure he was in good health and whatnot. They also bathed him since i found ticks on other dogs they brought to Petco. While he was being washed, there were several ticks found on him along with fleas. This was a month ago and we are still dealing with ticks and fleas.

We are frustrasted with the amount we "donated" and the lack of care we feel that at least the dog we adopted had while in their care.

I will be contacting Petco Manager as well as writing this review.

Be careful if you go through 2 Da Rescue.
