I am disabled and was in the process of moving, I borrowed $300 to tie me over until settlment; my intention was to immediately pay off the loan in two weeks -- well, they continued taking out money whenever and how much they wanted until checks were bouncing and my account closed. Even though they were notifed that I closed the account they continually tell me they are trying to take money out of the account. I have asked for an invoice whereby I can pay them off and be rid of them; of course they will put nothing in writing; you cannot pay them via money order. I borrowed $300, in a few months, paid them well over $600; this is unbelievable.
Can someone help!

You should have some type of written loan description and repayment terms.
These fast-loan, payday loan, etc. operations are bleed-you-to-death bad news. Their interest rates can be horrendous. And many states do not regulate them. Somehow they evade usury laws. Do you have some agencies or a Senior Solutions organization that could guide you? Maybe legal aid can help.
