My son did business with this corrupt auto transport company called A Plus Auto Shippers. I am very very very angry with Stoney, Dan and the other con-artists of this company who threatened my son, and most definitely with Ken the truck driver, who threatened to "conk" my son's head until "he drops dead" with his crowbar. For you viewer's information, I'm writing this on behalf of my son because the minivan I purchased for my son for his college graduation present, is under MY name, and the owner of the vehicle is my bank. Yup, I am still paying off the loan money for this minivan that's currently in the hands of my son (Thank God!).

Anyhow, below is a summary of what my son told me about his ordeals and run-arounds and shinanegans with A Plus Auto Shippers (more like Gay Minus Auto "Stealers"). I typed this all out and posted all these summary info on other opinion websites as well to warn potential auto shipper clients from doing business with these crooks. This all took place from the middle of May 2007 to the end of June 2007.

Had my son confided with me about transporting his minivan from Hawaii to Indiana, I wouldn't have had my son get traumatized by these corrupt losers at a-minus auto shippers. My whole family actually had a tense stand-off with one another because of this terrible auto stealer company. I want to clarify that my son used Matson to ship the minivan from Hawaii to Long Beach, Calif. Matson is an excellent company and they did an excellent job of transporting my minivan. It's just that a plus auto stealers did a poor and lousy job of handling the transportation of my son's minivan from California to Indiana. Seeing that there are other victims of this auto transport company, I am not surprised that they are angry at the company.

(
I want to talk about this rip-off, scum, piece of sh_t car transportation company called A Plus Auto Shippers. They are rude, mean, creepy, shady, crooked, deceitful, and unethical punks.

I had to transport my minivan from Hawaii to Indiana. I used Matson Shipping company to get my van from Hawaii to Long Beach, California. Matson is a great company, no hassles with them, and they got my car to Long Beach on time, in fact earlier than expected.

BUT... the journey of my van from California to Indiana all depended on the crappy auto transport company called A Plus Auto Shippers. I initiated business with Stoney over the phone on May 23, 2007. I told him that I was shipping my van to Long Beach port from Honolulu, and that I would like them to pick up my van at the Long Beach. He said no problem, and that it would take 7-10 business days from the day of pick up to get my car from California to Indiana. Little would I know that he was LYING to me!

The funny thing is Stoney never bothered to fax me a copy of my receipt or send me any paper work in the mail.

(My wife scolded my son after we learned that they were giving my son and wife the run-arounds a week later,... such as "oh, the brake of the truck broke down, so it will take two days to fix it", and "the oil pan of the truck is broken, so it will take an additional three days to fix it" type of bullsh_t. She told him to always ask for a copy of a contract when doing business, or ask for a receipt for the payment. Unfortunately, stoney was not ethical enough to do anything like that for his clients).

I never signed anything (i.e. a contract) and never knew about the Bill of Lading paperwork until I had to contact an attorney, which I will talk about later on.

(Because like I said, stoney never bothered to send my son a copy of the bill of lading or a contract, or simply the receipt of payment. Very unprofessional and unethical).

My credit card payment went through on May 29, 2007, although my van never arrived in L.A. yet.

(Money taken prior to a business transaction. I told my son to never do that again, otherwise corrupt businesses like a plus auto shippers will take advantage of you).

My van arrived at Long Beach on June 1, 2007. So I called A Plus Auto Shippers and Karen picked up the phone. I told her that my van has arrived at the Long Beach port. She said that a truck will be sent over to pick up my minivan. I called them again during the week of June 4-9, 2007. A mean gruff guy named Dan

(
picked up the phone and asked what I wanted. I told him that my van has arrived at the Long Beach port and that A Plus Auto Shippers should pick it up, otherwise they will charge me extra money for holing my car. This f$%--n liar lied to me that it will be picked up the next day. I called A Plus Auto again on June 6, 2007 to see if it was picked up. Stoney picked up the phone and said that no truck has been sent out to Long Beach. He rambled on about how the truck will be sent when a certain number of cars/vans are available to be transported over to their terminal in Phoenix, Arizona. Wow! He never even told me that there is a terminal in Phoenix where my car needs to be transported to.

(My son told me that dan told him that the minivan will be transported directly from Long Beach to Indiana).

They ended up picking up my car on June 12, 2007 a week later than what they promised. I thank God that Matson company was nice enough to hold my car for a week without charging me extra for storage fee. Matson was going to start charging me storage fee from June 11, 2007.

I guess my van arrived in Phoenix two days later on June 14th.

(My son had no idea where the minivan was located at as a-minus auto stealers never bothered to call my son to notify him)

I called again, and the mean monster Dan picked up the phone. He said gruffly that the truck carrying cars headed to the Midwest region was going to leave Phoenix in a couple of days. I called A Plus Auto again on Friday June 15, 2007 to make sure that my van has left the Phoenix terminal on a truck. So Karen picked up the phone and told me that everything has been taken care of, and that the truck has left Phoenix and should arrive in Indiana in 5 days. More lies.

I departed Hawaii on June 16, 2007 and arrived in Indianapolis on Sunday the next day.

I called A Plus Auto again on Monday morning, but they were not open yet, as Indiana is in the East Coast time zone. So I left them a message telling them to call me back and let me know the status of the car. No calls were made back to me.

(A minus auto stealers basically installs an answering machine to PRETEND that they are going to return your calls when they don't! I called the week after the day my son and wife arrived in Indy,.. leaving them a message on their answering machine asking them where MY minivan was located at. No returned calls from anybody!.)

So my mom got infuriated with the peeps at A Plus Auto and told me to call again. So I called them, and smelly Stoney picked up the phone. He said that the truck containing my minivan is well on its way over to the Midwest.
He told me to expect the truck to arrive in Indiana on either Wed June 20 or Thurs 21, 2007. So I trusted him, and waited till Wednesday.

Since my van didnt arrive on either Monday or Tuesday (6/18 or 6/19), my mother and I decided to rent a car. We were really inconvenienced that day, as we had to go shopping, and we had to take the taxi to get around town. Let me tell you Indianapolis is such a spread out city that you need a car to go shopping and to run errands.

(Exactly. My son and wife were inconvenienced since they were expecting the minivan to arrive in Indy during the week of June 18, 2007. Never happened, so my son had to rent a car,..no choice. My son also had to rent a Uhaul truck to transport his purchased furnitures from the store to his apartment. Stoney, I hope you realize the inconvenience your company caused, and that's what really upset my wife and my son).

Wednesday came and went, and no phone calls from the truck driver and of course, none from A Plus Auto Shippers.

(^^ Again, the no return call tactics that a plus auto uses)

Oh, and by the way, Stoney was supposed to give me the truck drivers name and phone number when he initiated business with me, or at least should have told me the truck drivers information when it departed the Phoenix terminal. He never. What an unethical scumbag.

(^^ According to my friends who have transported their vehicles across the continental US, somebody from the auto company is supposed to give the client the name of the truck driver and his/her phone number to contact. stoney never did that, never told my son the information about the truck driver. It was me who directed my son to have somebody from a plus auto to give him the truck driver's name and ph #. And stoney, don't give me that bullsh_t excuse you posted at epinions about how ken tried to contact my son. My son had his cell phone on the whole time, and if the voicemail came on, ken could have left his name and ph# on the voicemail. But no, he never did that. At least my son responds to his voicemails!).

Anyhow, my mother got infuriated with A Plus Auto, and decided to call the local police department here in Indy. It took almost two hours for Indianapolis Metropolitan Police to respond to my call. I guess this was not an important call for the officers.

(Wife got really fed-up with a plus auto's run-arounds. Little did my son and wife knew that somebody from a plus auto was going to tell the officer that "the truck has brake problems, need two more additional days" kind of run-around. NOBODY from a plus auto bothered to call my son to notify him of the delay. See, that's the kind of crap that a plus auto needs to clean up on).

Anyhow, the officers arrived at my apartment, and I explained to them what the situation was between us and A Plus Auto Shippers. So one of the officers used my cell phone to call A Plus Auto Shippers. Dan the mean monster picked up the phone, and boy was it hilarious. He told the police officer What do you want? in a rude manner. The police officer explained to Dan who he was, and Dan toned down his voice like a scared cat. I could hear his voice being lowered while speaking to the officer on my cell phone! LOL!

Guess what guys? Dan told the police officer that the truck carrying my van had a brake problem and that it was currently being fixed. Dan said that it would take 2-3 days for the truck to get back on the road. Wow! How come they couldnt tell me the truth when I called them earlier!??

(A plus auto never even bothered to call my son, like I've said, to notify him of the truck's brake problem and the delay. If somebody called my son, there would have been no misunderstanding. Poor communication skills on behalf of a plus auto).

I also told the police officer to get the phone number and name of the truck driver. He took down the number and name. The truck driver name is Ken and his contact number is (760) 641-8060.

Anyhow, the truck carrying my van left its location, wherever it ruined its brake, on Sunday June 24, 2007. Since the officer got the information of Ken, the truck driver, I called that number Saturday night and left a message. that guy never called me back. My mom used her cell phone and called Kens cell phone and left him a message too.

(Just like the people at a plus auto, ken never bothered to respond to my son and wife's voicemails. He only called back at his convenience. And no, ken never even attempted to call my son's cell phone. ).

He finally called us on Monday June 25, 2007 in the late morning hours. Wow, what a miracle. Pffft, thats what I thought. He spoke to me, and told me that he was currently driving in central Missouri heading towards St. Louis, having to deliver four more vehicles along the way before arriving in Indy. So he told me that he would arrive in Indianapolis area on either Tuesday night or Wednesday. I trusted him, and was very happy that my van would arrive here before my mother had to go back to Hawaii on June 28th.

Tuesday came and went. No phone calls from Ken. So I called his number Tuesday night, and like always, he never picked up the phone. So I left him a message to tell me what the status was of my van and his location. Wednesday morning, I got concerned, so I called A Plus Auto Shipppers and left them a message. I then realized that they dont return calls left on their generic gay answering machine. So I called them back during their business hour.

OMG, you guys wont believe this. Stoney picked up the phone and told me that the truck again, broke down and that Ken and the truck is located in Effingham, Illinois. He said he didnt know how long it would take to repair the truck, because the problem was not known.

(More excuses they gave my son about some oil-pan of the truck breaking down, and that it would take an unexpected amount of time to fix that problem.)

My mom got really angry and she even yelled at me for being unscrupulous in choosing A Plus auto Shippers to transport my van across the continental US. Plus it was a two-year old minivan, so it had some value to it.

(Value as I took out loans to purchase it, and that the minivan is under my name, and that the owner of the minivan is under my bank's name. Ha! My bank was going to get involved had a plus auto stealers not returned my minivan to my son!)

She then rambled on and argued with me how A Plus Auto probably took apart the van and how they probably sold parts of my vehicle to auto body shops. OMG, that was one of the worst days of my life. She then grumbled and ranted how the next time, I should choose a more expensive auto transport company because these losers at A Plus Auto Shippers are bunch of crooks. Like Ive said, bad relationship with mommy that day. (take note of that Stoney!)

(And I also talked to my son about being wary for crooked business people. My son is only in his mid 20s, and has never done business with auto transporters, so it wasn't his fault. But my wife was already angry as a rabid dog at the long delay in delivery of the minivan).

I got sick of the run arounds with A Plus Auto Shippers. So my mother and I looked in the yellow page book to look for an attorney. I found an attorney who specialized in transportation law. I called him up and as a free over-the-phone consulation service, he said that A Plus Auto Shippers is supposed to give me a copy of the Bill of Lading, which I didnt know about. He also advised me to ask for A Plus Auto Shippers DOT number and the truck drivers companys number.

(I also advised my son to do the same thing - to ask stoney for their company's DOT number. Unfortunately, my son told me that stoney got angry at him for asking him that information, and that he decided to be a b_tch and cancelled my son's credit card payment that was already taken from stoney in May).

The attorney then told me that the truck driver Ken is probably working for Stoney, and how stoney and his company is a broker for the transporting company. The attorney also suspected A Plus Auto Shippers of operating illegally, as they are supposed to be registered with the Indianas Attorney Generals office if they do business here (even if it means dropping off a vehicle in Indiana), but he couldnt find them when researching their company in the business registry.

So I called A Plus Auto on Thurs morning right after speaking with the attorney. Not to mention my mother departed Indianapolis back to Hawaii that morning. So I was all ALONE in handling this situation that day while my mother was flying back home. Stoney the monk picked up the phone and tried to sweet talk his way of telling me how the oil plan of the truck needed to be changed blah yada blah.

I then told him I really needed my car, and that each day after the 7-10 business day promise, he was accruing charges of my rental car. I also asked him for Kens truck DOT number and A Plus Auto Shippers companys number. Stoney then changed from his sweet BS talk voice to an angry agitated voice. He was initially stunned, then screamed, go ahead and contact a lawyer, I did not break one d**n thing in the contract. I simply hung up on him because I did not want to waste my time arguing with that punk. man is Stoney a creepy guy! I could also tell that he was scared as heck that I was going to sue his old pruny a$$ in court!

(My son would never do that kind of thing. In fact he sadly "forgives" a plus auto stealers for what they did to him. Plus he's a busy med student, so he won't even budge).

Later that day (6/28/07) at around 5PM, I went shopping at Walmart. My cell phone rang, and I answered the phone.

It was Ken, the truck driver.

He said that he was an hour outside of Indianapolis. However, he would not deliver my vehicle to me unless I had $860 in CASH handed to him at the time of delivery. I was confused as to why I had to pay cash when my $875 payment with my credit card was already taken.

(Stoney had the guts to cancel my son's credit card payment as a way of giving him a hard time. My son is a med student at IU, and was simply starting his new life away from home. Only to have stoney be a p***k towards my son by cancelling his credit card payment, and demanding cash on delivery in the late afternoon hours (after 5PM) when the banks were closed. I was not available at that time to answer my son's phone calls as I was out of the country on a business trip. My wife was flying back to Hawaii at that time. He was smart enough to call his church pastor/my friend, who knew somebody in the area who would lend my son enough cash to get the minivan back. Otherwise, stoney was going to order ken to impound my minivan at an unknown location in chicago).

He advised me to call Stoney, and his voice was okay during that conversation.

I called crooked Stoney, he picked up the phone and rambled, yelled and grumbled to me that he cancelled my credit card payment, and that he wanted cash on delivery, otherwise he will order Ken to impound my van in some unknown storage in Chicago. he said that he didnt trust me, and that I could cancel my credit card payment after they delivered my vehicle. What BS excuse! He was just doing this to be a jerk to me and to give me hard time.

(Sure stoney, my son is a very honest person, and would never do an evil thing like cancel a credit card payment. The credit card payment already went through in early June, so there is no way to fight that payment. Anyhow, my point is my son is a very good person who did not have a "I'm going to cancel the credit card payment for bad service" plan in mind. Sheesh.)

What a f----er!

I then called Ken and told him that I couldnt get cash because the banks were closed. I told him my bank closed at 5PM.

(Actually ALL the banks in Indy were closed at that time, since ken called my son after 5PM. FYI, Indiana is located in the east coast time zone! Learn some geography).

Ken, being an ignorant high school dropout (hence he drives trucks for a living, equivalent to flipping burgers), said that Indiana was central time, when it fact its in the East Coast time zone. I told him that I couldnt get cash. He then gets angry with me and tell me to go to an ATM machine and get cash advanced.

(My son would have withdrawn cash from his "newly made" bank account, but he never got his debit card in the mail at that time. He tried to use his credit card, but some of the ATMs in Indy wouldn't allow the use of his credit card. In addition, the banks that did cash advance for credit cards only gave cash up to $500 PER DAY. That was not sufficient for the $850 cash payment ken and stoney demanded from my son.)

Boy was I terrified with Ken and Stoney. They are pure gangs mafia monsters!

I actually went to several ATM machines just to withdraw $860 in cash from my credit card. The ATMs would either not accept my credit card, because my credit card company didnt do business with that bank, or it would only allow me to take out $300 max per day.

(Like I said, the cash advance amount for the credit card was insufficient to cover the stupid cash payment stoney demanded. And my son never had his bank debit card with him at that time, as he established his checking account two days before ken was going to give him my minivan).

I then called ken back and asked him if he could drive my van over to my apartment. Guess what? He raises his voice and screams at me, and threatens me that he is so angry with me that he will break my head open with his crow bar until I drop dead. Terroristic threat right off the back. I was so terrified I drove back home. I called the police, and told the dispatcher that the truck driver holding my vehicle is threatening to kill me.

(My son did a great job in handling that situation very well. I'm glad he never approached that schizo truck driver. He told me what the crazy truck driver ken yelled at him on the phone after I got back from my business trip, which was the day after this ordeal. I was astonished!

Plus my son didn't have his rental car at that time, so he was kindly asking mister schizo truck driver to simply drive the minivan to his apartment. I guess it's a very difficult task for schizo to do that, so he had to threaten to kill my son with his crowbar.)

Since I didnt know the exact location of ken and his truck in Indiana, the police couldnt help me.

Thank God for my pastor, whom I met the week before.

(He's a good pastor who also does real estate business. My wife, my son and I met him while we were looking for apartments for my son in the Indy area back in early May).

I called him and told him everything that happened that day. Actually my mother told the pastor about all the run-arounds and bad-business ordeals with A Plus Auto Shippers prior to leaving Indianapolis.

(Because my wife was very upset with all the run-arounds with the company).

So he advised me to meet him at one of my church goers store. He said he could borrow cash from them, and I would have to pay him back.

I also gave him the ph # to A Plus Auto and kens cell number, since I didnt want to speak to that low-life ken.

(yeah, after yelling and threatening to kill my son).

While I was driving to the store, my pastor called me. He wanted to tell me to not go to the store. Why? Because he spoke to stoney, and stoney didnt want ken to directly meet us. stoney rather instructed ken to drop my minivan off at a nearby junkyard. My pastor told me at the store that ken was willing to meet us in Lebanon, Indiana, but stoney disagreed. So my pastor told me that ken will drop off the minivan somewhere in Indy, and that stoney will call me in the morning to tell me the address of the junkyard.

stoney the jerk called me the next morning (Friday 6/29/07) to tell me the address and specific location of the tow truck junk yard where ken the scum dropped off my vehicle.

(Wow! I'm amazed that a plus auto people can give an effort to call their clients!)

He said I had to pay the tow truck company $80 in cash for storage fee and to also give the guy a cashiers check for $860 paid out this his phoney company. He was all giddy and tried to sound nice and friendly to me. He then asked me what I am doing, and I told him Im a grad student in medicine (AKA a med school student) and at least I dont have to do crap job (implying it to him and his shitty car transport company). He then chuckled, and joked about how he had four coronary by-pass surgeries at the UCLA medical center and had to pay a visit to CVS two days ago to pick up medication for his f___ked up heart. I was like man, please drop dead youre your pace-maker you low-life piece of scum! while he was joking with me.

(I had to laugh at this piece of info on stoney when my son told me this story when he came back home during the first week of October of this year. 4 coronary by-pass surgeries!? I was like "wow, that guy is totally destined for hell soon." What comes around goes around!)

Then he said he was sorry for all the mix up and inconvenience. I didnt want any more hassles with that guy or his corrupt company, so I just hung up on him.

Anyhow, to make the story short, low-life ken dropped off my vehicle at a tow truck junk yard several miles away from Indy. I had to bring my pastor along with me, so that I could drive my van while my pastor drove my rental car back to Enterprise.

(this was ANOTHER rental car my son had to pay for in order to get from his apartment to my friend (the pastor) business office, so that they could drive together in my friend's van to get to the junkyard to pick up my son's minivan).

I ended up giving the tow truck driver $80 in cash for storage fee, and $860 cashiers check paid out to A Plus Auto Shippers. I then saw a huge shining light with God smiling at the end of the tunnel when I saw my minivan as the tow truck guy slowly raised the garage door after I paid him the all the money.

My pastor drove the rental car back to Enterprise while I followed him. My total car rental fee came out to $323!!!

So thats the end of the story. I dont have the time and money to sue them, as Im in med school, and my schedule is very very very hectic with exams, quizzes, projects, etc. I would also have to travel to Arizona to file a lawsuit.

(see stoney, my son is a great son, he's a very nice guy, and you're darn fortunate he did business with your company to fill your wallet).

Anyhow, since Im a Christian, I ask God to forgive these people at A Plus Auto Shippers, because He is watching them and how they treat their customers day by day. I know this stoney guy is bound for purgatory. Him and his heart problems, a bona fide indication of a short life ahead.

(AMEN!!)

The lesson here guys? NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH A PLUS AUTO SHIPPERS!

This is such a terrible company. They continue to threaten other customers. Wow!

AUTHOR: WTF! - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, August 16, 2009

I was just about to use this company to transport my daughter's car from Las Vegas to Boston, when I came upon not only this rip off report about a plus auto shippers, but also other customers who were victimized by this company.

http://www.ripoffreport.com/Trucking-Companies/A-Plus-Auto-Shipping/a-plus-auto-shipping-or-apous-b9dw9.htm

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=289819&start=20

Seems like the owners of this company like to ruin their customers' cars, are unprofessional, and change their contract at the last minute. It's so unfortunate that they take credit card payment, and upon the last minute, they decide to cancel the credit card payment and only accept cash on delivery. That's totally unethical and unprofessional of a company to do this to their customer.

Don't worry. one day, these people at these crooked auto transport companies, not only a plus auto shippers, but other crooked auto transport companies, will mess with the wrong person or people and get some good lickings by a mob of people.

I really feel for you folks and what these heathens put you through. But, might I suggest something. Do not call truck drivers drop outs and say that's no different then flipping burgers.Just because you are a med student doesn't make you any better then a truck driver or anyone else. That's just insulting and ignorant. For a med student, you do not show much class or tact. I hope someone like you never has to save my life some day. I'd be worried I'd be nothing more then a payday to you.
