We don't believe Solid Gold Sound actually has DJ's instead they book weddings & parties accross the country, then they search for DJ's in the area. They offer DJ's a very low wage. But still manage to get DJ's to take the gigs.
In our case, In August, Solid Gold Sound phoned us & asked if we could send a DJ to a wedding because they didn't have any DJ's who opted for the job. The average price for a wedding DJ in Denver is $550-$750 for 4 hours. Solid Gold Sound offered us $225. for 7 hours (outragious). But instead of having a wedding couple be dissapointed & possibly not having a DJ at their wedding reception. We aggreed to help out Solid Gold Sound. We sent a DJ to the wedding & played for the entire 7 hours. Ron promised us we would be paid 4 days after the wedding. It is now October & we still havn't been paid. After many emails to Solid Gold Sound. All we get is empty promises & the runaround.
They should be very happy they can get a DJ of any caliber to play for such a small wage. But instead, they don'y care to say thanks or to even pay the DJ. We highly encourage any DJ's who are offered a gig by Solid Gold Sound to hang up & refuse their offer. It's companies like this that give our industry a bad name & reputation.

Another false promise....

So it appears that a Solid Gold Sound has put out another e-mail saying things will change. As I've done every week since I did my weddings on 8/8/08 and 9/20/08, I sent out my "bill" to the "new" e-mail address where I "will receive a response with 24 hours". I have received the exact same response that I have since 8/8/08.

Nothing. Zip. Nada. So this morning I sent out another one (as usual). I'm so tired of fighting with this company to get paid. I've spoken to both of brides of the weddings and they both have confirmed that they paid well in advance of the wedding. They have given me copies of their credit card statement showing the charges and said they would show up in court on my behalf when I file.

I shouldn't have to file a lawsuit to get paid. If John isn't embarrassed, I'm embarrassed for him. There is no reason to have 20+ posts on an obscure website of people complaining about not being paid. I can see him ignoring the customers that will never use him again...but the employees? How many people will he P*** off before there isn't a DJ that will work for him.

John, since I know you read this more than the e-mails that I send you, answer this simple question...where is my money? Today is 12/8/08, I did the gig on 8/8/08. I've e-mailed you once per week since 8/8. I've sent several additional e-mails. I've sent copies of the client information sheets that you sent me when you hired me for the gigs. I've called. Four months later....nothing. You can't say the wedding couples weren't happy. I've heard from them more than I've heard from you. It's only $500. Is $500 worth having your reputation ruined? I'm very busy this holiday season, but once it's over, I'm going to focus on you and your company. I will file a civil suit against you and get a judgement. I have your bank account numbers for when I get my judgement and need to garnish your bank account. I'm very serious about getting paid.

Why don't you simply make life easy on both of us and just pay me what you owe me? I don't want to write negative stuff about you; I don't want to go to court. But in more than 10 years of DJ'ing and over 1,000 events, I have never been stiffed on a gig, and I'm not going to take it lying down.

Pay me my money so we can both move on.

Ron, JD and John will not be able to be reached until 10am Tuesday 12/2/08 . Please do not call before Tuesday even to leave a message.

We are making a big change and need until 10am Tuesday to get it all set up: The past systems were not working, so effective Tuesday 12/2/08 , all matters pertaining to prior events, payroll, etc will now be handled exclusively by me (John).

Ron and JD will be handling all matters pertaining to all future events from 12/1/08 on.

I have a new email for all matters pertaining to all events prior to 12/1/08 and it is easy enough to remember: priorevents@aol.com . I am also giving you my personal cell phone to call me if I do not respond to your emails with an email or a phone call to you within 24 hours!!!!

My personal cell number is 859-360-4702 . It has call waiting and voice mail. However this phone will not be answered until Tuesday 12/2/08 .

Starting Tuesday I will be handling all emails pertaining to prior events all day 10am to 6pm EST and calls starting from 10am to 5pm EST each day Monday thru Friday. Again, only call if I do not reply to your email within 24 hours!!! After that I will be answering LIVE unless I am on 2 other calls in which case you will get my voice mail. You will not get an outdated message! You will get responses to your emails. I will call you when you request that I do so, and again, no outdated messages.

We think this will be a big improvement! We have more details about this improved system coming out in a future email scheduled to hit your inbox at 10am Tuesday morning.
