More to the story here! Most likely not actually dealing with AAFES

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 08, 2011

I have a good understanding how AAFES works as I served for 10 years and had an account with them.

First, I have concluded that you are not the actual military member as your English grammar is atrocious.

Second, if your Tax refunds are being taken, that means there has already been a lawsuit and a judgement on said amount, and now a third party is collectiing it. You are no longer dealing with AAFES.

AAFES "charge" priveleges are granted only to active duty servicemembers and the amount that is authorized to be charged is based on the members rank, monthly pay, and time left on current enlistment.

And, when an active duty member does not pay AAFES on time, a notice goes to that member's commander immediately, and payroll deduction is set up in an amount that will totally pay off the account prior to the members ETS, and all future charging is denied.

You cannot separate from active duty service [HONORABLY] with any outstanding obligations, such as an AAFES account. I owed AAFES when I separated and they forced me to pay it off before I could get my separation orders, and my honorable discharge from service.

Much more to the story here.

Freezing the interest rate does not mean no interest.

AUTHOR: Inspector - (USA)

They can charge the present interest rate.  Freezing means the rate won't increase.  But, the present rate can surely compound if you don't pay off the balance.

No president is going to cancel all interest rates, that would put the financial instutions (which he bailed out with your tax dollars) in dire straits.
