Please, please do not go to this company, I usually always use word of mouth to praise companies, unforunately I didnt do enough homework on this company.  I have let all my friends know, posted a review on facebook about this and now posted here about this to get the word out.

Mine and my boyfriends car was having transmission issues, I only knew about this company because of the ad on TV, I called and spoke to Tom on 05/09/13 and was told they could get me in ASAP which was because JMU was out and the out of towners make up alot of their business (this should have been a red flag to me). But he was a very smooth talker and I trusted him, he did SEEM very knowledgeable, needless to say I have learned my lesson when it comes to this. We had already taken our car to auto zone and had the codes pulled and were told Torque clutch converter failure.

Our car was charged the initial diagnostic fee of $47.50 on 05/10/13, we paid this were told the transmission fluid was good, engine was strong but there was probably an electronic issue. Were recommended to come back for a level 3 diagnosis where the transmission pan would be pulled, and the transmission inspected and the exact parts would be seen that were bad that needed repair (my boyfriend and I were both told this, I was told it would lose 2/3 of the transmission fluid when this was done, now how would I know this if Tom did not tell me this, he is telling corporate he didnt tell me this) WOW Tom,  I took the car back on 05/13/13, was called back this same day by Tom, was told the car was driven and the slipping between gears is high and it is the torque clutch converter and my transmission fluid is burnt....I was then told by Tom its recommended to rebuild the transmission base price 2200 for soft parts...this didnt include hard parts!! I asked how much would I be charged for this since what was quoted and told to me on Friday wasnt done,  was told 285.00 minus the 47.50 I originally paid. I asked has the transmission been taken apart and the pan been pulled....you can only guess what the answer was...NO.  So my boyfriend blindly paid this, but I was disputing this since we were told other things would be performed, the diagnosis is now the same as what I got from Auto Zone for FREE...Tom did proceed to tell my boyfriend that the tech's make over 100+ an hour so that is why we are being charged. I completely understand that, but dont tell me you are going to do something and not do it. I got the receipt and have the proof of what was performed, the codes were pulled, the transmission fluid checked and the car driven to get the slip speed.  This should have been included in the original diagnostic for 47.50, and there is no way this took 3hrs for what I was charged for.

I did complain and speak with Tom on this, was not offered a refund of any kind, was offered a few free oil changes after my 3rd call back to him and after corporate got involved and called him.  I did decline the oil changes, I would not trust this company to ever touch any of my vehicles again! Please beware, Tom is a smooth talker, and seems very genuine just to screw you over and will lie straight to you and not even feel bad about, his excuse is, it was a misunderstanding! Yep, Tom a $285.00 misunderstanding that I still know the same thing Auto Zone told me.

I remember this consumer well.  She brought us a vehicle with a transmission complaint. We spent an hour or so with the vehicle on a Friday. There was not enough evidence to say she needed a transmission, so we requested three hours of diagnostic time to try to solve an electrical fault. Electrical problems are difficult. We need to be positive that a transmission is failing before we tell the customer she needs a transmisison.

After the three hours, we determined that yes, she needed a transmission.  At that time the customer did not want to fix the car and did not want to pay for the diagnostic time.

So, we do charge for diagnostic. We have to because we pay the technicians for their time and tools whether it is diagnostic time or actual repairs.

I an effort to placate the consumer, we did not charge her for the work we did on the Friday, and we offered her some free oil change coupons. She declined the coupons.

Thank you.

AAMCO Harrisonburg.
