On April 21, 2003 I had my 1969 Chevy C10 Pickup towed to AAMCO because the transmission only had one working gear, Reverse. I picked the truck up on May 1, 2003 and paid $1600 for a recondition service.

Yesterday June 9, 2003 the truck developed a severe transmission fluid leak. I called AAMCO and had them tow the truck there. I just spoke to the new manager who told me (and I quote) "I do agree you were highly over charged for the work that was done but don't quote me on that I will deny it". Now they are telling me that on top of having over charged me they are going to have to charge me to replace the line that has gone bad. He will not explain exactly which line is bad either.

I explained to him considering the damage that was caused to my truck while in their care the last time I figured they owned me this much. When he asked I explained to him that the clutch wire was left laying on top of the muffler and it was now a crispy wire, the breather valve for the engine had been knocked off, there now was a knocking noise in the engine that had not been there before and the truck would not start when we arrived to pick it up. It took us 1 hour to get the battery recharged. I also told him that this all was reported to the manager there at the time with the same response "not my problem".

I am still awaiting them to contact me and tell me how much more I am going to have to pay for terrible workman ship. I don't believe this will be a situation which ends happily.

I find it highly insulting that the manager tells me that the previous manager highly over charged me but refuses to correct the situation.

CLUTCH WIRE?????

AUTHOR: TRANZMN - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 19, 2003

Tammy~~~~I've never heard of a clutch wire~~~~~i've heard of johnson wrenches and muffler bearings~~~but never a clutch wire~~~:-)~~~~~~~~~~~unless this is a 400thm tranz?????? or is it a 350thm????? a 400 has a wire on the drivers side for passing gear~~~~and the 350 has a cable on the passenger side for passing gear~~so which one izz it???~~~~~~~~your leak came from the cooler lines~~~they should be routed next to the engine pan on the passenger side on clips to secure them~~~if they are left to rub holes in them due to contact this could be an installation issue or~~~~if you had a new cooler installed with the first repair this should have been done properly.I guarantee you that soon the tranz "will" fail soon in the foward ranges ~~~because when the tranz began to slip as a result of the cooler line leak ~~~the foward clutch becomes damaged and will eventually fail again~~~~~ i can see how this one will turn out~~~~~THE TRANZMN

I would strongly urge all of you NOT to use AAMCO because even the Corporate office doesn't care

Me recieving phone call after phone call from the manager crying to me that he has two kids and pays $900.00 in child support a month and can I please call his boss and change my statement tall them I was just upset. Well the answer to that was NO! I told him that too and his comment was well I was going to try and help you but now....I asked him if this was blackmail and he changed his tune really quick.

They fixed the current problem but I'm still not really happy with this since I also got a flat tire pulling out of their parking lot and have YET to recieve an apology.

I would strongly urge all of you NOT to use AAMCO because even the Corporate office doesn't care about teh crappy work they do. Just pay them for the use of their name and rip of customers they don't care.
