I dropped my car off to have some work done. I placed my key in the drop box on a Monday night. On the following day AAMCO let me know what they would have to do. I agreed to have the work done. On the third day (Wednesday) I picked up my car, got in my car, started the car, went to turn on my radio and the face plate was gone. When I notifed the worker, he came out, looked under the seat and glove compartment but there was no face plate. For 1 hour the worker walked around the office dialing numbers on his cell phone. The worker told me he was trying to get in touch with his boss. By this time, it was about 4pm and the shop was about to close in an hour. His boss had not returned his call. When I told the worker that I was going to call the Police he looked frantic, saying, "I'm sorry nothing like this has ever happened before" and "why would someone take the face plate." The Police arrived and I explained what happened. I just paid for the work that was done ($997.64) and here I am complaining about the radio. I was very upset. The Police said that I would have to file a claim in Civil Court but that I would need the Owners birth date. The whole time I'm waiting for the phone call from the boss, the worker was walking back and forth from the back of the office to the bay area, and not one time did he sit at the desk. The Police Officer asked if the worker was talking to his boss, the worker said "yes." The Police Officer asked for the birth date and the worker went to the desk and looked on a piece of paper and gave the date of birth of his boss. The worker then told me that "they" are not responsible for stolen or damaged property. However, nothing in the Work Order/Receipt says they are not responsible. Also, there was no disclaimer posted in the shop. I got in my car and started driving. The car is still making strange noises, along with a new noise that it never made before I took it to the shop on Monday.
