I recently had My vehicle RUINED at the aamco waldorf center, The worthless manager told me that my battery had died and my vehicle would not start. So being a fool I believed him when the tow truck arrived at my home with the truck I almost had a fit when I saw that this fool was towing my ALL TIME FOURWHEEL DRIVE from the back

When I questioned him about this he said it would be fine. (jimmy's towing). I didn't believe him so that day I call the dealer in rockville and the service manager told me just what I thought that this truck should never be towed with the wheels dragging on the street (common sense).

He also told me that the manager at aamco (doug) told him they couldn't move the vehicle so thats why he backed up to it and pulled it away.

When I received my vehicle back, the brake cable was broken (thats why they couldn't move it) and it would not start also I noticed that the sensors for my catalytic converters were broken.

I have left several messages for the owner CARL. The center refused to even talk to me about this matter. They told me "WE DON'T DO THAT KIND OF WORK" They also knew that the brake cable was broken when the tow truck arrived they told him they could not move the vehicle and to back right up to it and hitch it up. The next issue is the aamco manager and owner knew a had an full time all wheel drive vehicle (RANGE ROVER CLASSIC) and still let the tow truck drag my vehicle from the back which can cause major damage to the drive train of my vehicle.

I have called the aamco customer service center several times to speak to bennie henderson he is supposed to be in charge of my case he has never return my calls and no one ever returns my call.

I can only hope that someone more proactive receives this E-mail and will respond. Keep in mind that I paid aamco about $3500 and my vehicle is in worst shape that when I took it to them, so I hope you understand my frustration.

TOW COMPANY PROCEDURE

AUTHOR: TRANZMN - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 29, 2003

WILLIAM~~~~~i don't know about the damage that happened to your vehicle since i can't see it~~~But~~~~~~~~if the planetary gear sets~~~~were changed due to the parts ruined because lack of (lube) they get all worn out and turn "blue" because the engine is not running that turns the pump to provide lube oil to the parts~~~~if this is the case "YES" the tow company is at fault for the damage to "these" parts and any other parts that rotate that require lube that were damaged/replaced because of the same condition of the planetary gears~~~~~~now i don't know what the "original" problem was~~~~~but~~~~~if the shop "stated" on the repair order that the cooler was plugged or inline filter was plugged~~~~~~this can cause the almost identical damage~~~~~only inspection of the parts involved "with training and technical know how" this can be determined~~~~~If this situation is present and you paid for all the damage and AAMCO didn't bring this to the attention of the tow company~~~who i'm sure they still use~~~~~~~~~~then the shop "AAMCO" was playing ball with the tow company and maybe this has happened before to others with similar circumstances~~~(showing a patern) this maybe be something the district attorney may be interested in for a criminal solution~~~~~other that that if you don't have your old parts but it is documented on the repair order as the parts replaced you could argue this wth the tow company and the shops responsibility to notify you of this "prior" to the repair.~~~~THE TOW COMPANY has insurance to cover this~~~~~The

I guess I'm lucky....

In our area AMMCO is the only tranny place that has NOT ripped anyone off. I also know many friends who have used them, and have never had a problem. I had them put in a tow package for me when I had them install a brand new 700R4 tranny. Two days after picking it up, I saw tranny fluid on the back of my suburban. I checked the tranny and it was a quart low. So I topped it off and took it back in. The cooler was faulty (Factory defect) and they replaced it within an hour. During the time I spent waiting, they make sure I had something to drink, and chatted with me off and on like I was family or something.

I just have one question about the person complaining about the towing problem. Why is AMMCO's name even involved in this? It's the towing company who had their head up their butt on this one.

The following is a direct quote from Aamco's solicitation for franchisees:

"With AAMCO, there is no mechanical experience necessary, and a HUGE potential for success- because we stay on the cutting edge of transmission repair technology to ensure that our centers are always the most qualified place to take cars in need of transmission work."

Wow! That's a l-o-n-g sentence. Let's cut to the chase: "Give us $150K (up) and we'll show you how to screw the people with technique, not knowledge.".....at least that's my take on their 40 word (plus) 'sentence'. The "most qualified place to take cars"....."run by an owner with "no mechanical experience"? Yeah, when pigs fly!

Their reputation preceeds them!

Ammco - Your the best!

AUTHOR: Palace - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 13, 2003

Ammco Transmissions are the best though. These clowns' really take the cake. My girlfriend car' transmission was acting up and I figured I would swing in there and have them change the fluid so I could rule out that problem. They said they would drive the car around the block for a few minutes to heat up the transmission fluid before changing it for me. So, I gave them the keys and left. Before leaving, however, since I KNOW how most of these national chains operate, I reached into my pocket, took out a dime and placed it on the inside top of the right front tire.

I came back an hour later as I was instructed to and behold, the dime was still on the tire! So, I went inside and the technician and manager walked up too me and actually TOLD me that I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION because the transmission was totally shot. I played stupid and said "really!" I had asked them if they had changed the fluid and they said "no, they could not do it because of the condition of the transmission". Uh huh? Yeah, right Mr. Wizard. They said they drove the car around for 10 minutes and could barely get it back to the shop in the condition it was in...

So, I said "come with me a second and please follow me to my car." At that point I showed them the dime I put on the tire and you should have seen the look on their faces! I called them a bunch of motherfu**king liers and left.

If my girlfrind had gone to Ammco by herself she would have gotten a new transmission at a cost of 3,500 or so. By the way, I changed the transmission on her car myself and I have not had a problem with it since...That was 7 years ago.

Do research first

AUTHOR: George - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 21, 2002

If you had read reports about AAMCO on this site and others similar sites, you would never have gone to AAMCO in the first place.

What happened to you is a shame and criminal, but AAMCO's reputation for rip-offs is easy to find. I urge everyone to do research before spending huge sums of money.
