Aamco told us first that the repairs would probably be minor and to bring it in. To me it seemed like a vacuum problem so we went along with it. We were given an estimate after the external diagnostic sevice of 1649.66 for labor and parts would be 1130.66 for a total 2780.32. My fiance was told by Joe Yoder that they could come down and inspect the parts when they got that far by phone notification. That was the first broken promise.

During this whole ordeal we were assured of the competence and experience on BMW transmissions as we stressed to them we would be taking the car almost 400 miles by weeks end so be sure there are no glitches. 5 days later we received a call with an updated estimate 3245.02 for many more "hard Parts" than originally thought. Not looking to minor now is it.

We had no choice as we were moving to Lodi Ca. that weekend but to give them the ok. They were saying that they were going to make sure the car was working "perfectly" before we drove it that distance. WHen we picked the car up he said it was performing perfectly and that they even washed the car for us. My fiance was told that if she paid cash she would be given a 1% discount.

So we paid cash and the bill said pd in full and we had to tell him to write in pd in cash. Bring the car to any aamco anywhere for a free check in 10-15 days. My fiane thought the car did not perform properly.

We started our drive to Lodi at 12:10am, the movers were going to meet us at 9am. WHile driving the car was winding out and not going into overdrive. It was taching at 4200rpm at 67mph and burning gas like crazy,we averaged 11.7 mpg freeway driving not to mention the fear that the engine would blow.

This went on all night till we arrived in Lodi at 6:10 am. When we called aamco on Monday they said they would get back to us as soon as they figured out what to do after he checked with the technician. We did not hear back until we called 5 hours later and we were told it was probaly something minor and take it to an aamco near here. We told him to make the arrangements due to the fact that he said that it was such a complex transmission not just anybody could work on them that why his guy is so good.

We were then called back after hours and told that he had talked to 6 aamcos in the area and most said they did not even want to look at it but Vince is Roseville had the heads up and had worked on BMW's. They had this car for a week now they want us to take it 70 miles away and my fiance is to start a new job next week. They told her that they would make arrangements for a rental but we would be responsible.

We are out the money, have a similar problem and now they don't want to stand behind thier guarantee.

under new management ???

AUTHOR: GOTME - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, November 29, 2010
It seems to me...  And this is my opinion...  That when these Aamco franchise holders burn out their business ratings they magically seem to be" Under New Management".  This outfit here has an F Better Business Bureau rating. @7012 Van Nuys Blvd Van Nuys, CA  91401.  I had a very similar experience with an Aamco dealership in Phoenix, Arizona. The South Valley Auto Group Inc. DBA as Aamco transmission was also under new management because the owner had died. I was just charged for a $550 guesstimate and you know how that goes...  Undefined repair and parts are extra all outlined on a generic "you can't hold me to this" type of quote. Fortunately I pulled my car out of their "under new management facility" before, in my opinion, would have had to mortgage the house for what I believe would've been a fabricated bill.  From now on I will always check with the BBB and Ripoff Reports.

AAMCO holds Lodi BMW hostage for over 3 months

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 27, 2006

Way back in June, we had our BMW transmission rebuilt. WHen we picked it up it was exhibiting the exact same symptoms as before. It was an intermittant problem as before but we were told to bring it in when it was doing it's thing. In December of 2005 we brought the BMW to the Stockton AAMCO where they had to have the transmission removed and sent to the original offending AAMCO in Van Nuys Ca. to be rebuilt again. When it was complete it was shipped back to Stockton where it was put back in and it still did not work.

At that point, without our knowledge it was towed to the Modesto AAMCO per the main office. From there we received a call that they had run the car on a scanner to diagnose the problem. They came up with several codes but could not interpret the results due to BMW keeps them secret. A day later a friend of thiers who worked at a repair shop that works on imports ran a scan with a BMW scanner and found no codes. The car miraculously fixed itself!! They drove it multiple time and no more problems, we don't know if it was the magical tow truck or the magical scanner. The main office is buried due to all the shoddy workmanship and has been horrific at trying to get a rental car(never happened) New warranty (Had the car 31/2 months got a 3 month warranty)It has been a nightmare beyond belief dealing with them. The shop owner in VanNuys would not even respond to the main office. So at 31/2 we finally pick the car up against our better judgement to find no gas in the car!!!
Getting the paperwork we requested has been hit or miss.

My fiance, who is a nurse, takes great pride in attention to detail and kept very detailed notes of each conversation and now the mystery codes we were requesting are exactly that a mystery. He does not recall the conversation about the codes. Do you smell cover up???? This is ridiculous. You can't turn your radio on without hearing some celebrety telling you about using aamco. Let's put that money to better use. Let's hire some competant Customer service people and maybe a few trained technicians. These people are just outright thieves.

BMW = break my walet

John, It sounds like they were afraid to let you pay by credit card, since you have the ability to reverse the payment up to a year. The 1% is CHEAP INSURANCE FOR THEM TO ABSORB. It may have and electrical problem that was not diagnosed prior to the parts being thrown at it.You don't have to take it back to AAMCO to have it repaired but one more shot is fair. If it does not pass again the baton is passed onto the other shop. The original shop bails out to the other shop for less money and keeps the difference and "no Liability" After that.In the State of Californiyah (like Arnold says)You can take it to "any" repair facility to repair and you will have to file with the state BAR. to resolve. Hopefully it can be fixed properly this time. THE TRANZMN
