ABC Financial Services AKA The Edge Fitness Clubs Credit Card Fraud Sherwood Arizona

I received a bill from ABC Financial Services saying that they were the billing company for The Edge Fitness Club in Stratford, CT and that I was in default of my membership agreement. I had never even been to this club, did not have a membership and had to Google it to find it. The letter told me that my credit card had been declined and had an amount due of $220.43 ($191.43 for past due, late charge of $9.50 & service charge of $19.50).

What concerned me was the last four digits of my old credit card from several years ago appeared on the bill.  I called ABC Financial Service and could not get through to an actual person. I then drove to the Edge Fitness Club (after using Mapquest to find it). I showed the woman behind the desk the letter and informed her that I had no membership there. She said to me "you've never been here?" I told her I had never step foot in the building and had to use Mapquest to find it.

She looked on the computer and asked me if anyone had contacted me by phone. I told her no. She then told me I had to speak to a manager, which conveniently was not there. I then told her I wanted to know where they obtained my information from. She asked me if I was ever a member of Bally Total Fitness. I told her I had purchased a membership there in 1993 and paid for it yearly (never had a bank draft), unitl a few years ago.

I had then informed her that I never authorized anyone at "The Edge" to use that information, no matter how it was obtained, and it was credit card fraud. I have excellent credit and do not need anyone ruining it for a membership that I never consented to purchase. The credit card had been expired for years. She brushed me off and said I would have to contact the manager. I will be contacting the police department and Attorney General's Office in the morning.
