On Sept 3, 2014 AbleMovers (who claim AAA status with the BBB)  was to pick up my families furniture and deliver it from Toronto Ontario to Calgary Alberta. Instead AbleMovers subcontracted this out to a company named Atlantic2Pacific (who are rated F by the BBB). I should also mention that not a single phone number that was provided by Atlantic2Pacific which could be reached (they were all disconected) and AbleMoving could also not confirm the location of the truck at anytime. Neither Sean nor Jasmine could contact the drivers, and stopped returning messages, about the whereabouts of the truck.

Ten days later, the truck did arive, but not in the condition one would expect of an acredited company. It was ditched in the yard at VanLine Alberta. Who, upon doing inventory realized that there was a loaded trailer of goods that had not been delivered. VanLines then delivered the package, but demanded 3000 cash (which was 1000 more than the moving cost agreed to by AbleMovers). Upon contact with AbleMovers (Jason) he confirmed the cost to be in fact 2000 but mentioned we had better pay. We obtained a certified cheque instead (so we would have some sort of proof of purchase) but we were instructed to make it our to Senol Keya (bizzar given we were supposed to be dealing with AbleMovers). When we opened the truck (which they wouldnt do until we paid) everything was literally destroyed. Even the driver from VanLine said he was in disbelief of the damages. So I contacted Jason who told me it was going to be his first priority to get to the bottom of what happened.

This began our 10 month battle with AbleMovers. After months of trying to negotiate fair settlement, they simply stopped returning calls. Then, they fell back to "you didn't take out a personal line of insurance for the move, so our responsibility is only to provide you the minimum requirement, 60 cents on the pound, or aproximately 300 bucks total." I should note that after paying to have our furniture taken to the dump (as it had also been infested by cockroaches due to the condition of the trailer), our replacement costs were slightly over 5000.00 in damages. But, beaten down by the time it had taken to get any sort of resolution I agreed to the payment, which never came.

So I filed a complaint with the BBB to resolve issues with the company. The company only replied after their fax notification (this is the third contact attempt that the BBB makes in their process, 1 email (wait 4 weeks) 2 email (wait 4 weeks) send a fax that says they have to reply or they lose their accrediation). Well, I can tell you that the BBB is pretty useless. The company only has to reply "were investigating the situation" and then they in effect are able to stall for another 4-6 weeks. Also, the BBB cannot force any company to make payments they simply keep seending your response and waiting for up to 6 weeks to get one back from the company. In the end, the BBB was able to make the company confirm in writing that they would send a cheque for 401 dollars to cover damages and then case was closed. Or was it? The case has actually been re-opened because AbleMovers closed out the case then never sent the cheque. Bonus for the company, accreditation remains in tact because this is considered a "resolved issue" but I still havent seen a dime.

This company broke contract (hired sub-contracts that I never approved), demanded cashe or cheque made out to Senol (which Im pretty certain wont be on any of their account statments), then broke agreement for payments which are in writing with the BBB and yet, I can do nothing to find them accountable. So please, spread the word about AbleMoving and Storage out of Toronto Ontario, and never NEVER use this company for ANY moving needs for yourselves, your families or your friends.
