Avoid this agency at all costs. My first booked job with About faces consisted of three days of runway work. I showed up on time, did all three shows and was told the pay rate was $340.00. I never recieved payment for the shows because the director of the show had a falling out with About Faces and its owner, Lisa Laforce. Lisa Laforce is the owner of About Faces and when she has a disagreement with the people who hire her agency, it's the models who get stiffed financially. Lisa also godssips about the agencie's models and I found this to be extremely unprofessional along with the workshops held in the agency office. Additionally, reputable, legitimate agencies do NOT offer "workshops" and charge models for the training. Always be wary of aggencies offering workshops--it typically indicates the agency isn't making enough money through real jobs for models, but rather by charging models for classes they don't need or want to take. When I was with is agency, Ms. Laforce had a constant flow of models interviewing with her and getting talked into signing up for workshops. Don't be naive! Find a real agency.

About Faces

AUTHOR: georgia_model - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, August 13, 2015

I am signed with About Faces and I am more than happy with the work they have found for me so far.

I'm not sure why you didn't get paid for the show. Did you talk to Lesa about it? I am sure she would have worked something out with you concerning your payment. It seems highly unlikely that you just didn't get paid.

I have never heard Lesa say anything bad about any of the talent that work for her. Why would she do that? That wouldn't benefit her at all.

The fact that there is a constant flow of talent interviewing with Lesa should be proof enough that About Faces is a legitimate business. If they weren't talent would stop coming.

The "workshops" are not provided to make the agency any money. The agency doesn't receive any profit from these classes. The money you pay goes directly to pay the instructors that teach the classes. The classes are there to help you become better at your trade whether it be modeling, acting, or commercial work. If the classes weren't offered, you would be less likely to get booked on jobs. The people teaching the classes are very skilled in the profession and know what most casting agents are looking for. Like I said, the classes are there to help you. The agency can never promise work to a talent, but I can assure you, they don't supplement "real" jobs with classes. I would rather pay the money and take the classes through my agency, rather than try to find my own source to take them. You are far more likely to get ripped off if you try to find some where else to take them.

Overall, I have been very pleased with my work with About Faces so far. Anything worth doing in life is going to cost some kind of investment. Starting out in this business is expensive, but if you are proactive and work hard, you can make your investment back very quickly. Just like anything else, your achievements in this line of work depend mostly on you. How far you are willing to go, how hard you are willing to work, how much you're willing to invest (not just financially, but physically, emotionally, time-wise etc).

You do have to be careful in this market as there are a lot of scammers, but I can assure you, About Faces is nothing but professional and legitimate.
