I've been using Accountemps and Robert Half International for over 10 years. I've had issues in the past, but nothing that amounts to my recent encounters.

For over a year now I've been applying for jobs in the Canton and Akron locations. I've applied for jobs via the internet, email and phone...all of which went unanswered. But, just to humor me I would get calls about jobs miles away from home and hours of traveling. So, I informed them "AGAIN" that I don't have a car and would like to apply for a job in the local area. Finally, there was a break through in the job market after a long drought. I thought for sure I would get a descent paying job....finally. I went on an overhaul of apply for jobs and calling to be considered for the various positions.

I saw many jobs posted to the internet through various job posting sites. I've also called and emailed to apply for jobs almost every week for over a year now. The many voicemails I left went unnoticed and unreturned. There was a lack of professionalism at these two office locations, and I decided to make a complaint.

The same day...within the same hour...that I called corporate, I received a phone call....they had a job for me. I was told it was in my local area, but I would have to travel a distance for the interview...only.

I was offered the job right on the spot, but had to turn it down when I learned the job was located outside my local traveling area...(I guess Accountemps didn't expect them to offer me the job) and without a car I would have to walk 8 miles (2.5 hours) to get to work every morning and again in the evening to get home.

I later found out that the Accountemps representative falsified information because she had prior knowledge of where the job was located and only wanted to quite my complaint. Unfortunately, I called to complain about the sick scheme; however, corporate didn't resolve the issue. Instead, after many complaints I was told that they would not be a resource to me in helping me finding a job.

Long story short....the Accountemps offices in Akron/Canton, Ohio never wanted to find me a job....I'm not sure why, but I have reason to believe it's because I'm not from Ohio.

Robert Half/Accountemps is one of the WORST...

AUTHOR: RC - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 03, 2013
I haven't dealt with a "Temp" agency in years. I refuse to. I have previously had experiences with various temp agencies that absolutely horrified me, from them refusing to pay, the agents lying about work "Constantly" and always trying to lowball a person to the zero absence of job security. I have also seen temp agencies and companies, especially in small towns, conspire against workers.

I worked for a temp agency before (It was Kelly Services) for a major relocation firm. I caught on to the job pretty well and soon my boss was meeting me at the end of my shift everyday with a folder of work to do at home. OFF THE CLOCK. People were actually doing this work off the clock to keep their jobs, but after a few days of that I decided to call Kelly Services and complain. I was fired the next day. I was just told as you were that "My services were no longer needed". I had passed ALL of my evaluations and had a wonderful repertoire with my boss. The ONLY reason they did it was because I complained about doing work off the clock. Those that did not complain kept their jobs. This was wage theft. Nothing more and nothing less.

I have seen temp agencies do worse. I have a friend who worked through a temp agency for a bank and the owner of the agency refused to tell her the bank had found a replacement only because the bank tried to negotiate the fee with the temp agency and the woman refused to go lower for the clerical position. So they found another agency. My friend showed up and her replacement was there. She called and called the agency to get another job and the woman refused to take her calls. She had always been a good worker too. Then the woman kept her last check and kept telling her it had been mailed when it had not. After a month of begging to be paid she told the woman she would be filing a complaint and that's when she recieved her check.

On top of it all, the woman LIED to the Unemployment Agency like she had quit the job when she had actually been replaced.

I stopped dealing with Robert Half years ago specifically because they were unusually dirty and corrupt. They were devious. Just because someone incorporates a business and rents nice office space doesn't make them ethical.

One last thing.. Also be careful drawing unemployment and dealing with temp agencies. I know of another woman who was drawing unemployment and she was offered a job by a temp agency that paid $8 dollars an hour and was a 45 minute drive from her home. Her unemployment check was more than that and she told them she would wait until they found a position that paid a little more. She had mentioned to the owner of the agency about her unemployment and as soon as she left they called the unemployment office and reported she had turned down a job and her check was cut off.

If they know you are on unemployment they will lowball you intentionally because technically you can not refuse.

Temp agencies are DIRTY BUSINESS. Go to Youtube and watch the many videos of horror stories dealing with temp agencies. I could go on forever, even speaking of how they lie like you will be made permanent when both the agency or company have no desire or intention to make anyone permanent and keep employees for YEARS working with low pay and no benefits.

Unregulated Capitalism is a trip. Temp Agencies are TERRIBLE.
