I have had an account with AccountNow VISA Prepaid for at least 4 years. During these 4 years, I have received SSD Benefits and Payroll checks. In this particular instance, my 3rd payroll check with the company that I now work with (Buffelen Woodworking) was deposited into my account Thursday, December 3, 2015, which was 1 day in advance. The first two payroll deposits went through just fine, with no errors later, but on this third time, there was a restriction placed on my account the very next day (Friday, December 4, 2015). I was attempting to make a purchase, during lunch, at a convenient store that I normally go to during my lunch break. When I was unable to take 20 dollars out of my account, I became confused. My balance at the time was $877.60, so I knew I had plenty of money. This was my first withdrawal of the day, so I wasn't at my limit, but I kept getting a transaction error. I called the customer service hotline only to have them say that there was a restriction on my account that was placed by my "account specialist" and no further information was available other than the fact that I now needed to provide a "recall letter" from my employer stating that they have permission to send the funds back to my employer, and somehow after that I will get access to MY funds again. Are you confused? Well so was I, but n matter how many questions I asked to get clarification, the only answer I get is," Sir, I'm very sorry, but that is all the information I have." I then ask if I can speak to this "account representative" and I'm told the account reps don't take calls, but they can send a message to them and have them call me back. So I go back to work after lunch and talk to my HR. Not only does she NOT know why they would say they needed this letter from them, SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS "RECALL LETTER" IS SUPPOSE TO CONTAIN BECAUSE THIS TYPE OF THING HAS NEVER HAPPENED WITH THEM BEFORE. My HR then puts me in contact with THEIR bank and I speak to the manager that handles the payroll for my employer. In a conference call, we call my prepaid card customer service line. When we finally get to the representative (the first time), I ask to speak to a supervisor. The rep says ok, but places me right back in the queue, where we sit on hold for 15 minutes. We then hung up and called back. The second time we got a rep, I stated that I had the banker on the phone with me and that she had permission to ask questions in regard to my account. She then began to ask questions to not only, find out exactly why the restriction was placed (we still do not fully know), and what this recall letter is suppose to contain. The most we got out of that almost 30 minute convo was that there was some kind of trace placed on the last deposit (for a reason that they could not give) even though the first two deposits went through JUST FINE. There was conveniently no more info about it and even though I had the banker on the phone stating that she has the direct deposit confirmation info IN FRONT OF HER and everything was ok on their end, they still insist on this letter. And that is where I am at now. On Monday, when I go back to work, I will be meeting up with the HR AND the CEO of the company to try to contact account now (which we will ONLY be able to call the same customer service number that I use from the back of my card) and get this issue resolved. I have read other complaints from other customers in which they either just end up cutting their losses because of all the trouble, OR they don't get the issue resolved for MONTHS. I just don't think this is fair to me because I have been a customer with them for so long and have received many deposits into this account with no issues even remotely. I CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE 877 dollars of my hard earned money, or have it STOLEN from me by this extremely unprofessional company.
