   I had a Social Security issued to me and proper identification and I needed it to be cashed so I could pay the property taxes.

   I had the initial Social Security check that you get after you denial of Social Security payents has been successfully appealed. Rather large but still within limits of most check cashing establishments. It was issued in August and I put it back so it wouldn't get lost because the taxes were due in December.


   That said, I went to the Ace Cash Express check cashing store because it is within walking distance from my cousin's home and we don't have one where I am living. Nothing that said the Social Security check wouldn't be good there as it would be at any check cashing store in Texas and that is where my drivers license is and I actually live at that address.

   So I went inside with my check and my driver's license in time enough to see two young ladies making a substantial wire transfer of about $8,000 cash from the city where I happen to live all the way to Dallas,Texas and they were permitted to go right ahead, never having been there before.

   It was on November 29,2010 at about 4:30 p.m.The stores closes at 7 p.m. anf the first thing I notice was ONE cashier for a VERY BUSY store and THREE cashier windows. WHAT SORT OF CHEAP PLACE IS THIS WHERE PEOPLE ARE NEARLY OUT TO THE STREET IN A LINE? And the two young ladies are alternately counting one-hundred dollar bills and yammering on the cell phone, thing they should not have been saying so LOUDLY in public.

   I finally got waited on and the cashier took my Social Security check and my driver's license and pushed a small yellow card at me that I was supposed to fill out and the people kept on coming in the door.

   I thought I heard something about "OLD WHITE MOTHER ******" but I ignored it. I know that it is not chic to be old in Obama's America today but i just wanted to cash my check and go. I think it would have been 2 to 3 % of the check for the fee but I was too tired to go anywhere else. My back was aching and the severe arthritis that got my disabled in the first place is aching but there is no place close to the cashier window to sit down & I had to lean on the edge of an empty cashier's window.

   My check and my driver's license sat on top of a messy pile of papers. I just wanted to take it and leave but there were too many people coming in --an ocean of people. I filled out the card which asked for name, address, date of birth, social security number which are reasonable when you start cashing checks at a new place. Between customers, I gave it to her.

    That was when she lied to me and told me she could not get my check verified to see if it was a real one.And she was not going to give me my check or drivers license back. Now she has the yellow card and who knows what that is going to be used for and now she wants to steal my check to WHICH IS REAL!  She did pretend to call someone, a fictional supervisor and told me that she had to get the supervisor's OK but I knew that she had tried to scam me so I stood there and the line got longer and louder until she FINALLY, RELUCTANTLY gave me my check and driver's license back.
It sounded like someone was saying," G****** OLD WHITE MOTHER******,F*** YOU!" as I got the check but that bulletproof glass plays tricks with the accoustics at times.

    I didn't get the yellow card back.

    The next day, I CASHED THE CHECK WITHOUT INCIDENT at ANOTHER CHECK CASHING PLACE and they told me that every check cashing place in Austin KNOWS HOW TO VERIFY A GOVERNMENT CHECK.

     In other words, I had been lied to and cursed and essentially refused service because I was considered too old and too white.

     I did copy the Customer Service number off of the wall of the check cashing place because I wanted to talk to them about Customer No Service.

     Because, the company slogan was Earning your trust since 1968.

     So I called the number that had been on the Ace Cash Express wall after my check was cashed (PROMPTLY ELSEWHERE) and the
Phone: (866) 223-2374 on the wall rolled over into Main Number: (972) 550-5000.

     I was patched through to a young man who barely spoke English. It was a Spanish from Central America though.( I grew up speaking Spanish & an ex-brother in law was from Panama)He thought my experience was HILARIOUS apparently and so he thought he would pass me along to the collection department where a white guy wanted to know why I was calling him. So did I . So I hung up and called back, the corporate number this time.

      I selected the option to talk to the receptionist who promptly patched me through to A RECORDING. And the voice on the recording was a very nice African American woman --and she sounded identical to the not-so-nice African American woman who refused to verify my Social Security check and conned my social security number and date of birth and address out of me.


      I would have bought a VISA debit card from them to use on the Internet and I would have piad utilities and purchased a money order from them for the property tax but I WAS NOT SERVED --and most of the WHITE & HISPANIC customers that I saw were being DECLINED service as well.
