Unethical, Immoral, and Illegal describes Howard Butler and Actuary Resources.  I went in for a so called interview with Howard Butler and Actuary Resources, only to find out that it was not an interview it was for a prep class to prepare you for the first actuary exam.  Once I found this information out I started questioning Howard Butler and his motives.  He went into this big spill about how one of his students who went through the program was now the professor who was actually teaching the class. 

When I ask him the name he told me and to his surprise I personally knew this person.  Howard Butler made out like he only had a limited amount of spaces to fill so I needed to make a decision quickly, which I did only because I knew the professor who was teaching this class and I thought how this could not be a legitimate program.  So I paid the $380.00 fee for the class at Cumberland University.

Over the weekend I got in touch with the person who was teaching the program and he instructed me to ask Howard Butler and Actuary Resources a few questions, which I did, only to get, lied to.  One of the questions hat I ask was how many people have you placed in the Actuary field in the past year?  This was never answered.  The person teaching the class also informed me that not only had he taken the prep class offered by Actuary Resources, but he has since passed another exam and Howard Butler still hasnt gotten him a job interview with any company, only that he has sent out his resume to certain companies and apparently they werent interested in him is why they havent contacted him. 

That is not Howard Butler states in his interviews.  He states that once you have passed your exam that within two weeks of your results you will be scheduled an interview with some of the hiring companies that he is working with, which is not true because he doesnt have any signed contracts with companies direct only other recruiting companies.  After finding all of this information out I decided that this wasnt something that I felt comfortable going through with, so I contacted Actuary Resources and told them my concerns only to be told that well the class is non refundable reference your paperwork.

My credit card had not even been processed and I was refused a refund.  I tried on several occasions to get in touch with Howard Butler only to get told that he was either in a meeting, on the other line, or out of the office.  It isnt that he couldnt issue a refund it is the fact that is how he makes a living by coning people out of money.  While in the interview I ask about my math skills because I didnt have any calculus and he told me not to worry that with a tutor that I should be find that the exam was mainly over statics, which isnt true.  The professor said that he had never heard of anyone passing the P1 Exam with no calculus.  Again, I tried to get in touch with Howard Butler only to get told to reference my paperwork.

So this company has been advertising for the same jobs for over 8 years,  and the only thing consistent is the fact that he is still taking people for their money, because the name of his company keeps changing (AKA Actuary Innovations, Medical Innovations, Actuarial Innovations, Actuary Resources, Medical Resources) and even how he uses his name.  He may refer to himself as Hal Butler or Howard Butler but the business card that is handed out is in yet another persons name. Believe me this has been a very costly lesson learned for several people, not only me. So beware of whichever one of the Butlers that you are speaking with whether it is Howard or Hal because they both are cons.
