I bought an Acura 2011.  I had a 1996 Acura and had no problems with it.  When it was time to buy another car, I went with a 2004 Acura based on the reputation and brand name of Acura.  In 2012, my dashboard cracked in several places.  I called Acura.  They said it was a known problem with 2004-2008 models.  It cost $2K to fix but if I pay $1K, they will pay $1K.  Excuse me if it is a known problem, why not recall?  They say they have not issued a recall because not a lot of people have complained.  This is hard to believe since there is a facebook page for cracked Acura dashboard, Acura forum board has a cracked dashboard page, and if you google Acura cracked dashboard you will see a lot of complaints.  I used to like Acura.  It is a well built car.  However, whenever I enter my car, I see the defective dashboard.  Come on Acura live up to your name and image and issue a recall.  Buyers beware.

Ken, you suck as a person.  I am not the consumer who posted this, nor am I affiliated with Acura.  I have an 06 TL with the same issue there is a facebook group about this issue and a simple google search brings up plenty of reading material for when you take a poop.  Why did you even bother to comment other than to be a poor example of a human being maybe I am sensitive, but I think you are lame and you suck as a person.

Car is OLD.

Keep in mind your car is nine years old.  You are in Texas, a place with lots of sun beating down on the car, drying out interior components.  The car is not under warranty so they don't owe you anything.  You never even owned the car when it had a factory warranty.  Did you purchase the vehicle from an Acura dealer?  Maybe the dealer would help with the repair.  They are willing to cover half of an out of warranty repair.  Seems generous.  And you are right, this isn't BMW or Jaguar.  They wouldn't have given you a dime.

Luxury quality brand excels at customer service

AUTHOR: Ewere - ()

POSTED: Thursday, September 26, 2013

Acura is a quality brand.  Quality luxury cars do not look like that. Since Acura knows about the issue why not fix the issue?  What happened to customer service?  I understand that is 11 years.  However, this is Acura not a Honda or no offense KIA. Acura is a luxury brand therefore the premium to buy and maintain the car is high.  A cracked dashboard made with inferior material is beneath a luxury brand; BMW or Jaguar will not do this to their customers.  Since a high number of customers are complaining, will it not be in Acura's best interest to fix the issue?  A luxury brand sets itself apart by providing outstanding customer service.  It should not matter if my car was a 2004 or a 2008.  A bad dash is a bad dash.  Why should a 2008 receive a replacement dash if the cracked dash is a known quality issue with a reputable luxury brand?

and you want them to fix it for free....right?  What was the original warranty on the dash? Why would they recall it, now for a NON-safety issue? I think their offer was more than generous. No, I DON'T work for them.  You're being unreasonable.
