Twelve years ago, I purchased a German Shepherd puppy from this breeder and he was a wonderful dog. This past December 2014, I purchased an awesome German Shepherd puppy from her and 4 months later he dropped dead in the back yard.  Veterinarian said the cause was probably heart-related.  Breeder was informed of issues and did not want to pay for an autopsy.  She would not return my money, but did offer a reduced price on another puppy from different parents.  Took puppy home and 4 days later puppy was diagnosed by 4 separate doctors at two different vet hospitals with a hernia and a severe level 4 hereditary heart murmur.  Breeder showed little sympathy and I returned the puppy.  I have big concerns for the health of her puppies.

False and Misleading information without Proper Knowledge

AUTHOR: christi - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, August 27, 2015

As the owner/breeder/trainer of Adel Haus German Shepherds, I am writing to put an end to the slander of Mr. Robert Opel.  Indeed, he did purchase a wonderful dog from me a few years ago.  I am aware that the dog did pass away without warning.  The dog was not known to have any cardiac issues during his time of life with the Opal family.  Had this dog suffered from any cardiac issues, a veterinarian team would have taken note of this and the Opal's and I would have been notified from the very beginning of this dogs life.  There is no documentation stating any cardiac issues.

With the passing of this dog, Mr. Opal's family again, sought out my breedings and purchased another puppy (which I sold on a discounted price).  The puppy had been thoroughly health checked by my team of veterinarians and did not have any heart or heatlh related issues.  It has been noted in charts that the puppy and his littermates were all healthy and strong puppies!

I received an alarming phone call that the young dog had suddenly passed away in the backyard of the Opal residence (the dog was unattended and outside by himself for an extended period of time).  It was too late for a necropsy, which I asked if that had been done after the onset of death.  No necropsy had been performed, and after I was informed, it was too late for any necropsy to be performed due to the atrophy of the body.  Mr. Opal took it upon himself to assume the young dog had a heart attack.  There are a variety of reasons for the death of the young dog including:  Abuse, neglect, poison, dehydration, air way obstruction (choking on a toy, bone, rock, ect).. I could go on and on...  There is no way of knowing the death of the dog without a proper necropsy and report done.  Assuming does not answer the real questions. No reputable veterinian would assume to the death of an animal without reports and necropsy.  Their license to practice veterinarian medicine and care, could be on the line for assuming without factual knowledge and reports.

I felt very bad for the Opal family and what seemed, their emotional distress.  I offered them a SUPER nice puppy, Desperado, from a super breeding; free of charge!  The puppy was gorgeous and full of character!  He had already passed a health inspection with flying colors!  However, I received a phone call from Mr. Opal stating that the puppy had a severe heart murmur..  I asked that the puppy be brought back to me.  Mr Opal was very strange when he brought the puppy back.  No concern for the puppy and only concerned about wanting money back from the puppy that had died while unattended and unexpectedly.  No mention for the welfare of the puppy, Desperado.

I welcomed Desperado back, and to this day, he has no heart issues at all and a small umbelical hernia that was non-detectable at 4 months of age (mild umbelical hernias do repair themselves over a short time as seen in many animal species, including humans).  He is healthy, strong, gorgeous puppy who is now co-owned with a very well-known German breeder.  This puppy has a bright future in the German Shepherd Dog world!  Mr. Opal would regret giving up this highly sought after young male, who passed health certifications to Europe (had a heart murmur been an issue, the puppy never would have passed a health check for such a long journey.

I never misrepresented any puppy.  They were all heatlh checked prior to placement and any defect would have been noted in any veterinarian hospital where any of them had been seen.

I feel bad for the Opal family, but I gave them everything that they requested, and not one time just ignored the situation.  If Mr. Opal is unhappy for whatever reason in his life, he should not try to drag people down with his misery.  Furthermore, if people cannot be responsible and supervise their family pets properly; please refrain from getting one.  It will save a lot of people from being blamed and all that goes with that. It is sad to see that in this world, that people hold no accountability for their own actions, but would rather place blame others for their mistakes and unhappiness. Best wishes to Mr.Opal and his family.
