Due to a break-in, I decided to get a home security system. I met with Brinks and then with ADT. Sales representative Paul Singh, who called Brinks "Stinks", assured me that the system ADT installs would include a pet-sensitive motion detector. This was a huge selling point for me, as Brinks did not offer that assurance.

In addition, Mr. Singh said that ADT has a 6 month Personal Satisfaction Guarantee, and if FOR ANY REASON I was not satisfied with ADT, I would be released from the contract. These were the two main selling points that convinced me to go with ADT and not Brinks. Unfortunately, I was to learn that Paul Singh lied through his teeth about these 2 issues just to make the sale.

I gave Mr. Singh a $40.00 deposit check, per his request, and we scheduled an installation appointment for the following Monday. I asked Mr. Singh to please make sure the tech brought along enough signage for my home - he said he would make sure of it.

I took the day off of work, thereby losing one days income. The technician never came by, and thus began the frustrating process of trying to reach someone at the Pleasanton office. Late in the afternoon, someone finally called me and told me that the appointment was scheduled for Tuesday. This was absolutely incorrect, but Patty was thoroughly unconcerned about how this effected me, the customer. She tersely said that the tech would show up the next day and that was that, and she had no further information for me. I asked Patty to please be sure the tech brought along the signage - she said she would make a note of it.

The tech did show up on Tuesday. Unfortunately, during the installation, he created a significant amount of damage to a wall he was drilling through. It was after the installation that the tech informed me that the motion detector was NOT reliably pet-sensitive, contrary to what Mr. Singh had promised. I would not be able to leave the motion detector on at night, certainly, as my cats may set it off. In addition, my cats could set it off during the day as well. The only suggestion he had for me was to watch the light on the motion detector as my cats walked around the house to see if, indeed, they would set the alarm off. Oh - the tech did NOT bring along enough signage.

Once Mr. Singh made the sale, he became very very difficult to contact. He never answered his phone and it took him a long time to get back to me. He promised the signage again - and again - and again ! I finally left him an angry message acknowledging that he had, apparently, blown me off once again. Eventually, he left a couple of signs outside my door. This took several days.

In the meantime I was trying to reach someone by phone at the local office regarding the fact that this system was sold to me under false claims of reliability. I was NEVER able to reach anyone there. The phone would be forwarded to other offices, to monitor operators, etc... I left a voice message for one of the managers who never bothered to call me back. You see, I had received a bill in the mail for $40.00 - the $40.00 I already paid to ADT ! Clearly they were absolutely screwing up everything and I was becoming very unhappy as a result.

Finally I reached a very nice woman at Corporate Customer Service, who has been trying to assist me in all of these matters. I was promised a $100 rebate - I was promised 2 free months of service as a result of ADT's messing up the installation appointment. I was promised a pet-sensitive system, which of course I do not have. Unfortunately, Kimberley at Corporate cannot honor the Personal Satisfaction Guarantee that ADT also promised. She can only email the people at the local office on my behalf.

I have decided, based on the initial lies I was told as well as the thorough bungling of every possible detail in relation to my account with ADT to opt for the Personal Satisfaction Guarantee. Sean Brophy, Sales Manager, has been polite, and understood my concerns, but had to pass the decision along to his superior.

His superior - one Keith Brown - is out of the office for the week. Someone named Nicole Diaz called me today, and this call constitutes the absolute worst experience I have ever had with any company. She insisted that I do not qualify for the Personal Satisfaction Guarantee, which of course is in DIRECT opposition to what the salesman communicated to me. She was rude, she would not listen to me, she would constantly interrupt me and when I asked her to stop interrupting me and to listen to me, she said, and I quote: "I don't want to listen to you !". I hung up - what's the use ?

This entire experience has been stressful and disruptive to my life - I have already lost income, have been lied to and misled, I have been insulted, taken advantage of and defrauded.

Believe me - I will be pursuing this matter to the fullest extent of the law. If anyone has had a similar experience or has some advice on the matter, I would appreciate your input. I have contacted a lawyer, and will be contacting the Attorney General, but I will not stop there.

How dare ADT lie to it's customers and mistreat them. How dare they take advantage of honest people.

Final Resolution In The Matter of Me vs. ADT...

AUTHOR: S. raymond - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 29, 2010

I am the original poster.  Here is how I proceeded and ultimately won this battle with ADT - I contacted the BBB who began an investigation.  I contacted the Attorney General and reported the matter.  Their followup included alerting my local DA who contacted me.  I "made friends" with someone in the Corporate Office who followed through with contacting the local ADT branch here.  I called and called and called and called and called and called - their incompetence did not dissuade me.  I did NOT give up - and within a weeks time, ADT was oh so apologetic.  The system was removed, and I got my money back.

Do not give up - I didn't and the situation was resolved to my satisfaction.  Keep records of every phone call and email transaction.  Be persistent - it worked for me.

My Experince with Paul Singh ADT Pleasonton Office as a Customer

AUTHOR: Abe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 29, 2010

I purchesed a ADT system from Paul Singh I believe he works at the Pleasonton Office, Well my experince was phenominal with him. He came to our arranged appointment on time. He explained all my areas of issue I had with my home, which I just recently got broken into. He was very professional and understood the pain of the breaking. He had a very relaxed personality which made me and my wife felt at ease after the traumatic event. after spending more than 2 hours at my house he designed a state of the art Alarm system. I purchased all door sensors and motion sensors, Touch screen keypad, wireless remotes, and wireless cell guard which he said it connects via wireless if a burglar does decide to cut the phone lines. He then laid out the price of the installation and monthly rate which was lower then what I expected. But what made me enjoy this experience was when he offered me a discount on the installation and also handed me a 2 months free rebate without asking for it. He told me that when he saw my TV's and Computers missing and the front door kicked in, he felt the pain of what we were going through and wanted to help in anyway. He also mention that I should call him directly if any problems were to happen at any time in the future. We set the installation date the next day, as the tech were installing the system, Paul came by to see how was the installation going and asked if we needed anything else. I'm very impressed with his Quality Customer Service. And also the Techs were great as well. They loved when Paul bought everyone plus me and my wife Gatorade. A+++ for everything and Thanks ADT my wife finally sleeps better at night.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Get it in writing

AUTHOR: Rippedoffagain - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 06, 2009

I suggest that any future home improvements you get them in writing if a claim is made have it put down on paper.

Also you are in Ca. The company needs to have a contractors license for any job over 500.00 . If the job is over 500.00 or the person is licensed with the state you could file a complaint with the Contractors license board.

Similar Experience With ADT - Fraud, Poor to No Customer Service Accountability and Unathorized Withdrawals

AUTHOR: Joseph - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 06, 2009

We signed up for a one-year contract with a representative named Mary Kay. She promised us two months free service up front. When the install guy was late for installation and was subsequently rude to my fiance, we called the main office here in Austin. The head of the install team promised us two months free because of the trouble, even though his customer service skills were extremely lacking. We explained that we already have two months free per the contract, but he insisted that we now have four. The installation finally occurred just over four weeks ago on April 10th. We assumed that we wouldn't be charged for April, May, June or July.

On 4/13, my debit account was hit with a $74.73 charge from ADT Security Services. $25 of that, the technician originally explained upon installation, would cover the cost of the battery needed to run the system. Yet when we called to dispute the remaining amount, we were juggled around between representatives, and finally came to land on the desk of Reggie Goodwin out of Boca Raton. He promised a credit of $120. Why he picked $120, I have no idea. My fiance, who spoke with him, assumed that he meant a credit back to our debit account.

When no credit was issued, we called our representative who was shocked, but insisted that a credit would be issued. Then on 4/28 ADT Security Services debited another $27.06 from my account. I called Reggie Goodwin several times over the course of four days and left three messages, which were never returned. I was very specific about the issue, and very specific that I wanted to cancel the contract and have a full refund issued to my card.

After not receiving any correspondence from Reggie Goodwin, I then contacted customer service again out of Boca Raton, who told me that the credit was processed as a credit to my ADT account, not a refund.

I called my bank and disputed the charges and canceled the debit card to prevent any further charges. They are currently issuing me a temporary credit for the charges until they can make all attempts to resolve this issue with ADT.

I called TYCO International and asked for the President or CEO of their ADT unit. I was transferred to Valerie Beckells office, who said the CEO was out on business travel. She took my personal information and assured me that she would "send out an alter" to the "entire customer relations team".

I have heard nothing back.

This company made false promises of two months up front free service on a two-year contract, then, after getting our debit account information, charged us $101.79 within eighteen days of turning on our service. Though they drafted money out of my account that I did not authorize, they told me that they will not issue a refund, merely a credit. Now they are non-responsive and they took me for over $100.

$100 is not much these days, but if ADT is doing this to many customers, it adds up to a lot. What really makes me angry is that almost all business principles I have learned through the years have been violated many times by ADT over the short six weeks that I have had relations with them.

Joseph
