Im writing in reference to ADT Security. Beware the
business practices of this company. I had been with them for a couple of years
or so when I needed to add an additional control panel by the front door of my
home. That was the beginning of what has become a several months long battle
with them trying to charge me for amounts I do not owe.
Either the sales person
that came out to add the new panels (as they all had to be changed to match the
new one going in), and to whom I gave a credit card number to charge the $199
to for all of the new panels I didnt want, got the accounts mixed up; or the
local office he worked out of failed to either post the card payment or they
failed to properly charge for the $199; or some other major error occurred that
they are now trying to pin on me.
Within 45 days or so of simply adding a new
panel and giving them a card number to charge all of the upfront fees that ADT
requires before they will install or change anything, I was being billed for amounts in the three hundred plus
range!!! Turns out when Broadview Security, which was the original company I
signed on with for security monitoring, was taken in by ADT, they never made
the adjustments to my account and suddenly I am being billed double, paying
double, and accused of non-payment!
I called and called and called asking..no
almost begging at times..for help from the salesman that made the initial
addition of a panel sale, to his office manager (who was an absolute joke and
basically refused to offer any help or even speak with me.constantly pawning
the problem off to others that could not help), to corporate, to billing, etc..
and no help. In the meantime I am being
called and harassed by ADT!!!On 11/18/11 I finally spoke with someone at ADT that I
thought had resolved the problem.
His name was Fashir Ben Davidson and he
stated he fully understood what had taken place (finally..after days and days
and weeks of talking to brick walls about the problem) and had made notations
to correct it all. When things started going haywire in September and I was paying
double bills, I stopped any further payments until the issue was
corrected. Fashir assured me he had
fixed everything and all I would need to expect was a statement for $69.98 for
October and November payments and all would be back up to speed.
I waited and
got a bill for over $300 again and called. I was told by another agent I spoke
with on December 5, 2011, named Nelson, that he saw the notes in the system
from Fashir on 11/18/11 and I was to disregard the incorrect statement and wait
for the corrected one. Obviously a correct statement never came!!! I wont go
into all of the ridiculous details regarding this situation because it would
make this letter way too long, but know there is way more than I am stating
here!
I have been called by ADT up to six times in a ten minute
period; over 18 times in about a ten day period for example, been called after
8:00 at night; been repeatedly called on Sundays, holidays, and so forth; have
been verbally threatened, harassed, and more by this company for an error that
was not mine. Keep in mind I had been with them for a couple of years and never
had an issue until I wanted to simply add one more control panel by another
door!!! I also pointed out to them repeatedly that when they came out and
changed the panels to ones I neither liked nor wanted, they failed to reconnect
the glass break sensor, however, they are yet to send anyone out to repair it.
Finally,
in January I just told them to cancel my account and we were done. I am now
receiving bills for over $1000.00 with them stating I owe them for a whole new
contract buy out and they are threatening my credit. They have apparently now
turned me over to a collection agency and are going to (or already have) black
marked my credit. This is absolutely unacceptable, wrong, unjust, and another
example of a big company attacking a consumer for something that is not the
consumers fault.
These companies, like ADT, use bullying tactics, unfair
collection practices, violate collection rules and regulations, and both try to
threaten and intimidate to collect. I have now been contacted by some type of
collection group called National Action Financial Services, Inc. attempting to
collect the debt I do not owe. Had I ever gotten the correct bill for $69.98,
it would have been paid and all bills monthly following would have been paid as
they always had been in the months and years prior. They are damaging my credit
over their mistakes and this is not right!
I am sending this letter to every
agency I can find from the Alabama Attorney General, to the BBB, to the FTC
complaints department, to Ripoff Report, and to any and all others I can to get
help with this situation. They have and had no right to black mark my credit
for their mistake and it needs to be corrected asap.I am in hopes that one of the agencies, if not more, that
receives this letter can offer me help with this situation. It is not fair that
these firms can damage someones credit and more because they dont want to do
their jobs properly. I look forward to your reply!
