On Oct. 1, 2009 Florida Alarm Co., a contractor for ADT, installed an alarm system in my home.  The contract gave me 72hours to cancel the service and have the system removed.  After the installation I went out and the alarm sounded twice.  It was the pet sensor that was guaranteed to work up to 80lbs of animal.  My dogs are 25lbs.  As they did not install window sensors I had to keep the motion detector active or I would have no real alarm system.   Phone call after phone call was made and I received no calls back.  I finally cancelled the service over the phone with ADT employee Sherri whose employee number is 24765.  She assured me that because I cancelled within 72 hours that no charges would be made.  Several days later my bank account was hit for $99 and on Oct. 5th. ADT took $72 additional from my bank.   The contract stated that ADT and Florida Alarm had 10 days to refund my money and 20 days to pick up the system before it became my property to dispose of.    As of today the 16th I have neither received a refund nor have they come for the equipment.  I have had to close my bank account to keep them from further theft of funds.  When I speak to ADT they refer me to the contractor and when I speak to the contractor they refer me to ADT.   I have had to file complaints with the Department of Banking and the Attorney General(s) of Pa. and Florida.   I finally did have another company, APX, install another system which seems to work fine.   ADT however will not return my calls or give me my money.  I suggest that anyone dealing with them NEVER give out bank info but instead use a credit card because the money if much easier to get back.  My bank (S&T of Pa.) will not help me.  I have closed my account.
