Advance Auto Parts had promo stating "Advance Auto Parts: 15% Off $100 + $50 Off $100 Coupon for a Future Order (Online)". If you want to save money and not get ripped-off with this or similar Advanced Auto Parts promo READ THE TERMS CAREFULLY or do like I do, don't shop there anymore.

First of all the $100 purchase is before taxes, I got that and added small item on top of the $99.99 purchase I made. However the $50 coupon never came because my purchase AFTER the 15% off was below $100. There were other terms as well probably intended to confuse the consumer.

I already installed the item and made changes to my vehicle so I cannot return it. But the beauty of capitalism is that there is competition and I can take my business elsewhere and educate others to be more careful than I was.

AUTHOR: hydrobuilder - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 05, 2011

I got scammed by the same shady "discount program".

My subtotal was $112.25. When I applied the discount, my final total ended up being $95. I contacted "customer care" and their response was....

"your order placed on 07/02 does not qualify for bounce back

coupon, since your order subtotal was $112.25 and you were charged only $95.41

after discount and tax".

According to customer service's wording my subtotal is both $112.25 and $95.41 Read the disclaimer carefully since they redefine a subtotal as the amount after the discount but before taxes and shipping and pretty much anything else.

How would it work if say Amazon.com offered you a free gift and a discount of 10% if you spent $100

BUT when you were rung up they said, Oh Im sorry but your 10% discount brings you

below $100, so no free gift.

Its an uncommon and arbitrary use of the word 'subtotal' and a deliberately deceiving business practice.

When my parts arrive in the mail, I am returning them to my local store and ending my relationship with them.
