This photos are from the manager of economy rent a car that he sent he says the damage is in the back, look at the hood how many time this car has been paintedtoyota 2005
Plate number 581392
contract number 0186134
rented 11/21/07 11:20 am.

The car was given to me with 105617 Kilometers a beater with dents and warning lights turning on and sounding breaks they never did service this car properly. Paid $107 for two days now they want to charge me for a dent I never cause. This was an economy car manual Transmission.I asked to speak to the manager they keep giving the round a round a manager Never available. This a great example of corporate white collar crime, this people pray on tourists.

I am an employee of a major US company of ethics and standards this guys are just plain crooks.

My driving record in the US is perfect, I have been going to Costa Rica and driving there For over 15 years, I kept the car in private parking lots and my house well kept, no way This dent was caused under my control.

First when I spoke to Carlos Zuniga he said the damage was on the passenger Side, Bobby Bianca said it was on the driver's side their story did not macth

Basically there is no dent but their only concern is to fabricate a dent so they
Get some money out of it.

What one of the managers tried to tell me is that Boby Cianca is that sometimesThe clerks are too lazy to do the proper checks so they let the client go, since
This car had a lot of dents they decided to forward this bill to and try to either make me pay for a dent someone else caused or just caused the dent after I left Because the car has some many dents and scars, however painted this car did a poor job as you can see in the photos, this guys charge us prices then They go hire cheap labor and materials and they just do keep patch up jobs, then they go and charge huge amounts. Unscrupulous employees in some agencies work a scam by charging for the same trivial scratch over and over

Hi,
I live in Florida, last weekend 11/24/07 thru 11/25/07 I went to Costa Rica and rented a car from economy rent a car, I want to report fraud from this company, first of all they gave me a Toyota with 106,000 Kilometers that had a lot of dents, I inspected the car and showed the employee that the car was dented the the young girl Lisbeth Solano said don't worry about it has been noted, also I rented a economy car from them which they told me to put the maximum insurance on it, so I did I paid $53 a day with all the maximum coverage you can get, Monday morning 11/26/07 I returned the car at the airport and they guy told me everything was ok, later when I arrived in the US I got a call from them telling me that there was a dent on the car, they advised me that I should contact my credit card company so they would pay for it thru their insurance. First of all I have been travelling to Costa Rica for over 15 years I have a business there I have heard horror stories from other Americans who have rented cars there however I thought I was careful and would be covered. The way they work is they put on charges that don't exist or pass it on to the next consumer because they miss it the first time. They want to get money from the credit card company/client and also they get money from their local insurance (INS) Instituto Nacional De Seguros, also labor is cheap there so they hire local guys to do the work for them like this car it had been repainted and patched several times, plus remember they also make the customer get the maximum coverage of insurance when they a

How would a customer of this rental car agency know so much about another renter?

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, November 18, 2011

The comment from the above "customer" seems suspect. How would a customer know so much about another customer's rental? Do you think if you walked into a rental agency and said, "I saw a review for your on RipOffReport.com date X/X/X, tell me about it." that they clerk would a) Actually know what you are talking about, b) Not only know about it but be the exact same clerk that the previous renter used, and c) explain the situation in such detail? The rebuttal looks like is is likely a manager of the rental company posing as a customer.

In the end, when I rent a car, I always take a picture of the dash with the gas level and mileage. I also take extensive pictures of the vehicle before signing the contract and on drop-off.

Economy Rent A Car has given me great service

AUTHOR: Michael Cook - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 17, 2008

Mr John Trepp,
My name is Michael Cook, I rent with Economy Rent a Car in Costa Rica at least once a month. I read your statements on the web and it didn't sound like anything I have seen or experienced with this company. Recently I returned to Costa Rica and I, again, rented a car from Economy; I was curious about your remarks so I decided to ask if they could explain this article and your accusations. Carlos was the counter agent who was helping me, he has always been very helpful to me and my associates when we travel to Costa Rica. He happened to be the same agent you encountered. Carlos explained that when you returned the car it was early in the morning and there were customer ahead of you returning their vehicle, but you said you could not wait your turn informing Carlos that you were late for your flight and you had to leave. Carlos informed you that he had to close your contract but nevertheless, you left. When he finish with the other customer he went to inspect your vehicle and it had been damaged. The agents explained that they didn't charge you for the damage at that point as they could have as the contract was still open. Instead they stated that they called you and then send you the pictures of the damage done to the vehicle while it was under your contract explaining this was proof of the damage. Mr. Trepp, I would like to know how much they charged you for the damage as Carlos informed me that you refused to accept the damage claim and they didn't charge you. They also said they informed you of this in a letter around the 30 of Nov. They assure me that they explained that as you were not present when Carlos found these damage, and as you stated you did not remember how they happen, that Economy would not charge you for them,

I have found, through experience, that it is important when renting a vehicle to allow sufficient time to return your vehicle and close out the contract to avoid these emotional accusations. I would like your explanation of 'Rip Off' as I observe that they acted very honorably. I also feel you should request the remove this article from the web or update it as it appears you are tweaking the truth. I also noted the remarks in your article about Economy are misleading.
There is a reference that has to do with Dollar Rent a Car and another about Thrifty Another reference is about a customer that didn't want to pay the 20dollar for the required insurance. It appears you went back to a rental in 2005 and a vehicle which broke down; however this customer out of fairness said that Economy was helpful and gave them assistance .
So Mr. Trepp were is the Scam? What did they do that was wrong? Out of fairness to Economy you owe them an apology. You did leave without signing off on the vehicle. They charged you ZERO. I can see no Rip Off nor Scam .

If you want to leave this article be fair, and write what really happen and if you choose not to present the entire story it would be better to update or remove the article if at all possible.
Thank You
Michael Cook
