These idiots take the cake. I was in college in Atlanta and joined a LA Fitness (no problem with them) but Body of Change was a personal training outfit and somehow they convinced me to sign up for a contract AFTER giving two free sessions. One day after I signed the contract, I deceided to cancel and called the representative to notifiy him and that he would be getting a letter dropped off to him as per the contract stipulations.

I dropped it off and he was not there, but made another employee sign a paper saying I dropped off the letter just so there was no dispute. The rest is history. I was later contacted by Affiliated wondering why no payment had been made. We went around and around for several phone calls and they even claimed they had records of me using the personal training sessions with a trainer that didn't even work there!! I even had a public confrontation with the manager

Nonetheless, I called my bank and they put a stop payment on the account and then they called me back to tell me that they would comply with my request to cancel the account.

I check my credit report every quarter, and this morning what do I find? Affiliated has a collection for $1100 on there. They are scam artists just trying to take advantage of anyone they can even their own mothers!! Folks, it is about to get nasty!

Affiliated Accepted Corporation Sunrise Beach, MO Rebuttal to: Before I am bashed by others

AUTHOR: Russell - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 16, 2006

Don: I don't mean to bash the collection profession as I am sure not all collection agencies are alike. My father is in the banking business and collections are a dirty business and someone has to do it. It is how the credit/finance business goes around.

I take pride in my actions and in making sure I pay what others are owed, but the claim was from over 2 years ago and they have made no attempt whatsoever in contacting me by letter or by phone! My address did change during that time, although I did file with the postmaster my new address but they admitted to me over the phone that they did have my phone number and it has not changed in over 10 years.

The only way I found out about it, was by checking my credit report and that was posted the first part of May of this year. They also admitted that they had not tried to contact me since they filed their claim.

This much is clear, SOME collections agencies do not do squat in order to notify or advise someone in paying a late debt.

Fortunately, I have been in contact with Affiliated and they have put all documentation in the mail so I can examine and decide whether it is mine or whether I need to dispute the claim. If it is something I owe, I will pay promptly with the understanding that they remove the claim from the credit report.

Yes I am a debt collector. I work for a collection agency. I have one question here. Your post says how much Affiliated Acceptance Corporation are scum. I don't know, I don;t work for them and never have had to deal with them. Now if LA fitness asked them (or sold them) to collect an alleged debt that is not valid, shouldn't your arguments to LA Fitness. After all, they have sold a debt for an account that you canceled, that they even agree you canceled.

Simply respond to the Affiliated by phone, of if you don't want them to have your information, by mail. I will even recommend using registered mail so the agency can not claim they did not receive your validation letter.
