Affordable Movers, Aka, The Movers Affordable Movers, dishonest, fraudulant and unwilling to return overpayments for services, verbal quotes different from contract. New Orleans Louisiana

On September 28, 2007 I contracted Affordable Movers to move my household belongings at 9:00am because I had to be out of the apartment before September 30, 2007. I was on a month-month rental agreement.

They arrived on 9-28-2007 at about 8:50am, showed me the contract and informed me once they started moving furniture was when the time would begin on the contract. They quoted on the telephone an hourly charge of $88/hour, I agreed and signed the contract before they started.

Moving started at 9:00am and ended at 2:00pm. I had to be to work shortly thereafter. The job took 5 hours and I was prepared to pay no more than $480.00 for the job, this would include any tax they may have charged.

Instead I was charged $678.00 for the move and was told by the mover that if I did not pay them in full, that my belongings would not be unloaded off the truck. The movers stated they were told not to unload until I paid in full.

The same movers told me that the evening before that their customer was in tears because she did not have enough money to pay for the price they quoted her because it was so much more than she expected, according to their verbal quote.

I attempted to get my money refunded, the part over the $480.00 and spoke to a gentleman who called himself William that stated he would look into the matter and never called me back.

I now notice they keep changing their name in the telephone directory but the address remains the same. I would like to get my money refunded for the overpayment they charged me.
