I called Affordable Powertrain's number listed on their website. A guy named Mike called back his missed calls and price quoted me $995 for a good used Malibu LTZ transmission on 8/12/13.  I called Affordable Powertrain's Mike and provide 3 credit cards for payment. Mike sent receipt two days later with warranty information. My ASE certified technician received part on 8/15/13. On 8/19/13 my ASE Certified Technician told me the vehicle was not performing correctly and would not drive past 2nd gear.  He provided an error code (P0776) PC Solenoid failure in transmission. I advised Mike of Affordable Powertrain, and was told by Mike to have installation shop submit proof the transmission was installed to their specifications and write what's wrong and fax it to Affordable Powertrain, and we did on 8/19/13.  Days later Mike still could not give me a date on when I would receive a replacement and instead insisted that he had Diamond Auto send me a good transmission.  Affordable Powertrain at some point asked to have the transmission uninstalled at my expense and sent back to Diamond Auto of W6642 State Rd 23, Fond Du Lac, WI 54937.  I informed Affordable Powertrain that I did not agree to those terms and would not pay to uninstall a part just so their part supplier can verify the part is bad at my own expense ($880) of removal, as the cost to do so out weighted the cost I paid for the part.

I provided Affordable Powertrain with the option to sell me the bad part for $200 and refund the difference of $795, or send me a guaranteed good part that does not contain any defective parts inside the transmission casing (which they could not do), or take a part equal to the value of the bad part they sent me and refund the full $995.  I advised them that I preferred to keep their bad part that was currently installed in the vehicle to avoid the additional $880 uninstal fee and have it rebuilt and documented by a Chevy dealership and I needed to know what option they preferred by 8 am Monday 8/26/13 or I would proceed with taking vehicle to Chevy dealer to have bad part documented in detail and possibly repaired.  At no point in any email did I state to anyone that I was paying to uninstall their bad part at my own expense and ship it to them.  I did state several times "A Malibu transmission is ready for pick up".  The dead line to respond to the options I provided Affordable Powertrain/ Diamond Auto came and went so I authorized the Chevy dealer to rebuild the transmission at an agreed upon price of $2200 and would work out payment with the Chevy Dealership, which I did.

Affordable Powertrain/Diamond Auto, continued to harass me about sending them back their exact part, which was not possible now that I had invested an additional $2200 into rebuilding the bad transmission they sent me, that was not in any better condition than the original transmission that was removed from my 2009 Malibu.  Affordable Powertrain did attempt to pick up the transmission I had ready and an AAA Transmission employee other than Tim the manager, allowed them to leave with the wrong transmission, the bill of lading did not state what type of transmission was to be picked up and the  Transmission shop that preformed my original install was expecting shipping two different transmissions out the day the error occurred.  Affordable Powertrain/Diamond Auto was told by my ASE Certified Technician and me by email, that they could keep the Lexus transmission sent by mistake and could sell it for $200-$300 or scrap/trash it to get it out of their way.  I paid to ship back the Malibu transmission I had ready for Affordable Powertrain /Diamond Auto and the company refused the shipment, stating it was not their exact product, knowing they never paid me to remove their product before I had it rebuilt, so of course It was not their exact product but a replacement worth equal value to the bad product they sent.

I am out of pocket over $2500 for this transaction with Affordable Powertrain/Diamond Auto and they still have turned a profit with selling me a bad part that has been documented by an ASE Certified Technician at a Transmission Repair shop and by a Chevrolet Dealership.  Why want they do the right thing and issue a refund.  If they rebuild and sell used parts, someone there was aware the part they shipped me was bad before it left their facility and knew how to manipulate the warranty that offers little detail in writing to the consumer.  I just want a fair refund for purchasing a bad part sold to me at good part pricing.

I will not return a part I have rebuilt for $2200 plus the cost of the part of $995, but I will accept a refund for all the additional cost this company maliciously made me incur due to them sending me a transmission that contained bad parts inside the casing and denying the replacement addressed and shipped to them.
