$110.88 is being deducted from my pay, every pay period for AFLAC.  I cancelled the AFLAC account in December 2011, after receiving a policy that was higher than the quoted price. I received confirmation of cancellation via email on December 30, 2011 and via 1st class US mail on January 5, 2012, effective for January 1, 2012.  I have the emails and cancellation letters from AFLAC, paystubs reflecting deductions, and PeopleSoft record reflecting that I do not have an AFLAC account.

Despite this, deductions have been made from my pay starting on January 1, 2012.  This has resulted in overdraft fees in my checking account.  I did not notice the first deduction, but after again noticing what I thought was a mistake in accounting on my part, I checked in PeopleSoft (my employer's payroll system), and saw that the AFLAC fees were being deducted.  I contacted my HR department, who said this is an ongoing problem with AFLAC, and it may take months to have the payments stop because AFLAC is not cooperative, and refuses to reimburse fees.  This is placing a huge financial strain on my family.  Please help.

Your HR Department is a MESS...

AUTHOR: Jim S - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, March 08, 2012

This is not the fault of AFLAC.  This is ALL the fault of your HR department and someone there needs to be fired and never allowed to work in either payroll or HR again.  The premiums are paid by your company with the approval of your HR group.  If they stopped paying AFLAC as they should have per your direction, and the deduction kept right on going, your company owes you a lot of money.  Still, you should have caught this error before it all spiraled out of control, as it has.  If they continued to pay yhour premiums to them even after your written direction....  someone needs to be fired...seriously.

Having said that, Peoplesoft has to be one of THEEEEEE most f'd up systems ever.  I have consulted for three companies implementing Peoplesoft and none of the systems EVER worked right - EVER.  The people at Peoplesoft and their consulting partners need to fire themselves for being so incompetent and forced to march naked in front of their clients.... though I'm not certain who would be more mortified.  GEEZ I get angry every time I think about those morons at Peoplesoft....

Sorry for the visual.  Best of luck to you!!

Me again

AUTHOR: RCWynn - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, February 17, 2012

Yes, as strange as it sounds People Soft lists me as not listed as receiving the Aflac benefits on one screen, and only on the screen which shows my paycheck does it show the deductions being made for AFLAC, so it does show both. You may be correct that I should have caught it initially, but my pay is received electronically and my bills are paid electronically. There is something wrong with the entire system and I will get to the bottom of it. My HR and AFLAC have copies of all of the documentation. I am simply reporting facts as they stand now.

Wrong Company...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 17, 2012

AFLAC has zero control over the deductions on your Paycheck.  It actually seems like it is your HR Department and PeopleSoft are the ones giving you the Run-Around.

You said PeopleSoft record reflecting that I do not have an AFLAC account. and I checked in PeopleSoft (my employer's payroll system), and saw that the AFLAC fees were being deducted.

- It can't be both of those statements.  If PeopleSoft does not show you have an AFLAC Account then they should not be deducting any money.

I did not notice the first deduction, but after again noticing what I thought was a mistake in accounting on my part,
- I wonder how you could miss a $110 deduction on your check?  Either you didn't review your payroll check, or you did review it and didn't notice $110 difference in what you thought it should be.   You should still be entitled to the premiums being returned.  But this is a problem when trying to claim they owe you the Overdraft fees.  It is still your responsibility to know your account balance.  So you should have verified the amount deposited into your bank account BEFORE you spent it.

Talk to your payroll department

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, February 17, 2012

They are the ones who actually deduct the money from your pay.  AFLAC is not in charge of your company's payroll system.  Your company is.

You should provide them with your confirmations that the policy was cancelled effective January 1st and insist that they stop the deductions immediately.   This should not take months, it should take minutes.
