I made a purchase from AFMO.COM for a pair of boots and it was imperative that I received them.  I was getting deployed and had a hard set departure date.

Any active duty military member or family member knows that these dates are NOT flexible.  They also know how important it is to have a good pair of boots that will last.

So I bought a great pair of Danner boots to take with me.  I already own a pair and wanted a backup pair as well as a pair to rotate wear while deployed.  Letting the alternate pair dry out/air out etc. after long trecks.

So, these chuckleheads charged my card, sent me a confirmation email... basically did ALL the stuff that a reputable company is "supposed" to do.  So I felt good about the purchase, checking that line item off my list of "deployment to-do's".

That is where the warm/fuzzy experience ended unfortunately!

I never got the boots... with a week left before leaving (I ordered the boots 30 days in advance) I called them to be informed that they were on back order and were NOT in stock.

I was polite and asked why they were available on the website while they were not in stock.  The customer service person told me that they don't have any way to update the website based on inventory levels, that those two "systems" ran on different platforms.

So basically they didn't know what was in/out of stock until an order was made and they went to ship it.

I'm like seriously?  You do that and charge peoples credit cards even though you don't ship your item?!!!!

So here I am...  I called up my CC Company - they cancelled it with no problem and AFMO.com has never tried to make it right.  They didn't challenge my dispute, basically because they had no ground to stand on and plus I honestly think they are asleep at the wheel.  That is how their business seems to operate.

There is definitely no military class leadership present - that is for sure!

Ultimately I went to LA Police Gear, called them up, told them what happened and they offered (I never even asked) to 2nd day air the boots I needed so that I could get them on time before I deployed.

It honestly felt like they were more worried about me deploying with my necessary gear so I would stay safe (their exact words) than anything else.

Oh yeah... the upgrade for shipping was on them, they just charged the standard shipping + price of the boots.

So it all turned out okay - the nightmare with AFMO.com is over.

Word of advice fellow military personnel...  DO NOT USE AFMO!

Go with a trusted company that doesn't take advantage of their customers.
