Afni contacted me by phone and informed me that they were acting on the behalf of USAA auto insurance regarding a wreck I had last year. They said that the vehicles owner provided information to his insurance carrier that caused them to deny the claim filed by USAA. After receiving the facts that they were willing to share (and there weren't many) I found that the policy owner reported that he no longer owned the car on thed day of the accident, that he'd sold it to me. This was not true. I provided Afni with two police reports that showed the policy holder claimed ownership at the time of the accident to police. I provided them with a copy of the vehicles title registered in my state, showing that ownership of this vehicle passed from policy holder to someone else MONTHS after this wreck. They refused to forwaard the information to the policy holders insurance carrier and refused to give me any identifying information so that I could report it. They have threatened legal collection activity and suspension of my drivers license if I do not pay this debt. Any attempt at responsible discussion to resolve this matter is met with the most outlandish collections behavior one can imagine. These people are not interested in resolving anything truthfully or in a just manner. They are only concerned about money. If these people contact you, rememer that you do have the right to demand the original creditors information. Do it in writing. You do not have to speak further with them until they comply. (which they won't)
