I'm in the Military and got a verizon phone in 2005, shortly after I found out that I was on assignment to south korea, so to my knowledge if you present a company a copy of your orders, they are required by law to let it go (i.e. breaking leases, phone bills, etc.), so.. thats what I did, half way through at about the 6 month mark, I recieved a bill for over $1000.00 from verizon, and shortly after, the bill was in afni's hands, totaling $2,219.00, which is still on my credit report to this day, I called verizon a few years ago, and they had no record of me in the system, back in 2008 I actually sent a check to afni for $100 (because paying the whole lump sum in one sitting is just insane), so the actual total now is $2,119.00.. is there anything I can do to get this off my report? or do I even have a case at all?

This is what the info in the bill says:

"Servicemembers may suspend or cancel a contract entered into before beginning a period of military service greater than 90 days. Members receiving permanent change of station orders from a location in the continental United States to a location outside the
continental United States, or members receiving orders from a location in a state outside the continental United States to any location outside that state, are eligible to suspend or cancel the contract. Additionally, any member receiving deployment orders for a period of not less than 180 days is eligible to suspend or cancel the contract."

Cell phones were included in that as were utilities and satellite service contracts.  May depend on whether or not you were on active duty already when you got the orders or if you were in the reserves and got called up since some of the provisions in the relief act are intended to relieve the hardships incurred when getting called up.
