Agnes Keller John Keller- Eller's Kennel Got puppy 12-16 and she started acting sickly Tues Nite. Took her to vet 12/13 and they didnt know if she was gonna make it. She is in an incubator with oxygen and getting glucose and blood transfusions. We had to give to pup to the vet could no longer afford vet bills. Vet waived part of bill. We called the breeder and so did vet and she hung up on us.She wants us to ret pup & nt care wl die N Ripoff Wilkesboro North Carolina

We purchased the pup on Sat 12-16.We had been shopping around for a malti poo for my daughter for weeks for Christmas. Had we not been desperate we would not have purchased the pup because of the conditions of the breeders home. There were 2 maltipoos and 1 maltese in the same cage with ours. There was another cage with 2 yorkies and another with 3 maltese that looked newborn. (said she was selling these week after Christmas if we knew anyone interest) The stench in the house was almost unbearable. I don't believe this pup was as old as she said and the vet also stated that is was too little to have been taken from her mom. her
The pup got sick on way home. We called breeder and she said wouldn't have happened if we had given the pup the pound cake she had given us. (did not give this to us)I have no idea what that would have done. She told us that the trip back home was hard on her and the cake would have helped but normal for them to get sick.
Monday 12-18 the pup wasn't eating good. Tuesday morning she wouldn't eat at all and was acting lethargic. I called my husband and he came home as soon as he could get away.
We called the breeder who told us this was our fault again for not feeding the pup pound cake and if we didn't take the pup to the vet now she would die.
We of course took the vet to our nearest emergency clinic. They said she was hyperglycemic and had parasites. They began treatment giving her glucose and put in incubator to bring her temp back up. They gave us several updates via telephone.
Wedensday 12-19 we went back to clinic and spoke directly to vet. By now our vet bills are climbing and the vet isn't sure if the pup will make it even with the best care. The vet said she would have to have a blood transfussion and then go from there. We knew that we could not afford to continue with these costs and talked with the vet about it. She agreed to waive $200 of our vet bill and she would assume all responsibilites toward the pup and do everything she could to save her.
My husband and I discussed this for over 2 hours finaly agreeing to give the pup to the vet because we knew she would get the best of care.
The vet then called the breeder to explain all that was going on and she was very nasty to her. She said if we didn't bring the pup back to her she would not return our monies that we had paid her. The vet tried to explain to Agnes that the pup would not make the trip but she would hear nothing of it and ended up hanging up on the vet.
When we got home that night Agnes called our home and wanted to know why we hadn't brought the puppy back.My husband again told her that we weren't bringing it back and she got mad and said would talk with us late. I have tried to call her since and she has caller id and won't pick up the telephone.
I don't think she should be allowed to breed under these conditions and would really like to know what I can do to have her license revoked till she cleans her kennel up and has her pups ckecked out by license vets rather than give vaccines herself.
Our vet has given us a record of the pups medical history that they performed on this pup along with a letter of her conversation with the breeder.
Please if you have any suggestions please notify me. We intend on reporting this to the humane society and peta.

Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia is usually a matter of care and control, and doesn't really have to do with the breeder unless caused by an underlying condition like a liver shunt. Before getting a small breed puppy, research this very carefully, so the proper preventative steps can be taken. Pound cake is new to me. Make sure you keep nutri-stat or nutri-cal or something similar on hand. karo syrup can be good in an emergency, if the puppy has gone 'hypo' due to a lack of the proper care in a puppy of small size. Very small puppies have a more difficult time regulating their blood sugar. So nutri-stat should be given, morning and evening, after play, before a situation we know is likely to cause stress, and after situations which may raise their stress like handling by strangers. Your small puppies gums can usually be used as a good indicator of hypoglycemic episodes. Are they nice and pink, or pale?
Please consult with your vet during your initial exam after first bringing home a new puppy, even better, before bringing your new puppy home. A puppy can die from hypoglycemia, and if that is the only major issue involved in the death, it is not the breeder whom is responsible. *just my opinions*

I have also unfortuntley bought a Maltese, and 2 Pomeranians fromAgnes also. The little female that I boughtfrom her was almost dead. She had a cold,that had then turned into a uperespitory infection. She almost died. Then the male pom that I bought from her had a terrible cold,then on top of that a Luxating Patella.
Then here comes the Maltese, Ellie. She had a terrible stomach virus when she was purchased from Agnes. She was ok for 2 days, then she is at the vet every day for 2 days getting glucose shots in her stomach.
Then my-friend bought a Pomeranian from her that had Parvo, and it died. Agnes will not replace the puppy or the $600 in vetbills that occured.
I pray for anyone that bought a puppy from her.
