At the end of April my group of 6 females headed off to the Dominican for a staggette. We booked thru flight centre we paid about 1600 each for our all inclusive stay at the Ocean Beach resort and Spa. Our agent showed us nice pictures of this beautiful property. They rated it a 4.5 star convincing us it's one of the best hotels in Dominican to stay at. We trusted the well known flight centers star rating and had great expectations about this hotel. You can't go wrong with a 4.5 star hotel. We stated 6 days and 5 nights. When we were a day or two from leaving out agency located in surrey place mall did not have our tickets ready.

We thought that was irresponsible of them and didn't seem very prepared as they should of been. Two names were spelt wrong on the tickets. If the guy when checking in at Vancouver airport didn't adjust it for us those two girls would not of been able to board the plane. That was our first unnecessary stress at 6am, the start of our vacation. On the plane two girls were drinking red wine and the glasses were given were cracked so it leaked all over their outfit and purse. It took 7 mins for a air transat flight attendant to come by. I asked for soda and explained what happened there was no apology on their end for not checking their products before handing it out and there was no assistance to help get the stain out.

My white outfit and Louis vutton purse had ref wine all over it and the soda I requested did not get out my stain. I was one if the last passengers to leave. I talked to the pilot he gave me a paper to fill out that would give us money for our dry cleaning but it had to be cleaned in Canada not Dominican. Basically had to wait a week to wash our outfits. Poor customer service on the plane. I was not impressed. We checked into our hotel late. We told our agent we wanted two rooms beside each other and ocean view. They did not have that info at the hotel so it took a while for them to move us side by side.

The hotel we stayed at was not a 4.5 star hotel it was more like a 3 star. The pictures are very decieving. The rooms and property were worn, unclean, dusty, needed maintenance. Maids would clean for 15 mins and be done. They didn't do a very good job. The food was not appetizing at all. The buffet always had flies, it was difficult to make reservations for dinner, when we asked for salsa, ice tea, ketchup something different was always brought out. The people that worked here were not fluent with English. We ended spending our own money outside the resort on food just so we wouldn't starve. Food is very important on vacation.

Bed bugs were found in our rooms. We all had bites from our waste down. We didn't realize it til the third night after pulling the sheets back to see these tiny bugs in our beds. That sane night there was a gecko in one of the rooms and we could not sleep until it was out. We tried telling the front desk to send someone over and it took forever, they refused to at first. It was raining out so we asked for a driver in the trolley to be sent over so we could go to front desk and speak to someone since they kept hanging up on us. No one came so we ran in the rain.

We asked for a manager they said noone was in. For a 4.5 star hotel you should have a manager on the floor at all times especially when there's problems like this. They wouldn't change our rooms, we told them we couldn't sleep in those beds or in that room with the gecko. We than requested out sheets to be changed n blankets it took two hours for someone to come by and they only changed one room with sheets no blankets. Due to the language barrier from the front desk and employees working throughout hotel it became very frustrating with a lot of time wasted. We had insomnia that night no one could sleep. We wanted to come early but flights go out to Vancouver once a week.

The first night I left my new blackberry on the trolley . Minutes after realizing what I did I ran to the front located the driver but he said there was no phone. We were the only people up at this late hour. I reported it and asked to see their cameras but they said the hotel has none . What kind if security does this hotel provide for their guests? Especially for a 4.5 star hotel. I spend money on calling cards and half the time they didn't work cause of the service provider was out. When I returned home I learned that my bbm was changed to a different girl on my profile and the writing was in Spanish. My thoughts are they the trolley guy stole and sold it.

We changed hotels after the fourth day. The guest service manager tried to convince us to stay but too many things went wrong at this hotel that made us feel like we wanted to go home just after 3 nights. With no choice of going home due to no flights we upgraded to hard rock which was only .5 star more than this hotel. We paid out of our own pockets for the transfer for the hotel and cab ride. It was a 20 minute drive away but took 4 hours of our fourth day to transfer over. We had to explain our experience of the hotel many times and it was very time consuming and stressful. One girl was sick the fourth day from running in the rain so she was bed sick on the fourth and fifth night.

Her vacation was well ruined due to the lack if assistance from the hotel. We missed the sunshine so we couldn't enjoy the beautiful beach at our new hotel. The hard rock was amazing but we were do worn out and exhausted from the first hotel that we couldn't even enjoy it. Our legs were coveted with bites we did not feel comfortable showing off in bikinis and dresses. I had to take a week off work when I returned cause my uniform requires me to show my legs in the dress I wear. Our luggage and all clothes in it had to be steamed to kill off bugs to prevent them from nesting in our homes and duplicating.

There was no air transat rep to greet us when we arrived at the first hotel.no phone calls no messages to show us around hotel or adventures we could go on. We were not impressed by their lack of communication. Flight centre tried to take no blame when we called in Dominican and when we returned back home. They said the supplier air transat is who you have to deal with and were not very assisting. We feel ripped off and robbed ten grand from our group. It was a vacation from hell and a disaster. We were mistreated and mislead with the star ratings. We filed a compliant right away it took several months for a response. They sent out checks for our upgrade to the new hotel but that doesn't compensate us in any way for the 1600 we spent for this horrible experience.

It leaves us feeling like we never want to travel thru flight centre or with air transat. We're still in the process of getting a refund on our vacation. We have been on many vacations before and never experienced anything like this. We didn't pay 1600 to be treated the way we did. It's now almost November and still no response on our case with sue transat. They said they followed up with the hotel and the hotel denied any sort of pests which is clearly a lie. The morning we left they hotel each room had a flyer asking the guest if they wanted their rooms Infumagted for pests.

We should've taken that flyer but we took several pictures of our bites and each one of us went to the doctor. I got a confirmation from my doctor of the bed bug bites. The flight attendants also denied the wine experience. Clearly they denied it. I waited to talk to the pilot and the flight attendant that brought me soda but did not help to get the stains out. I told them in destail what happened. We feel that they obviously don't want to lose money that we paid them for our vacation so that's why they are saying our experience was not true. We reported everything to the airlines and hotel staff. Someone is lying and it's not our group. We feel ripped off, mislead, and robbed.
